Yes I am keeping this one. I have a second one thats going to be next.Its a much cleaner unit.I intend to bi-amp a set of NS-690's.I have already had both the top and bottom covers powdercoated gloss black.Both these puppys will look brand spank'n OEM new.:thmbsp: This particular amp was in real sad shape internally.Externally the anodize pieces were just saturated with cigarette tar and nictherwise no scratches..

I used the CDE 27000uf for my M-4 re-cap as well, they’re the right diameter but an inch or so shorter than the original 15000uf caps. About a week after I finish the re-work I notice that every once and awhile I’d get some high frequency dropouts when playing music. I fixed the problem by cleaning/polishing the contacts on relay RY601 and RY602. The M-4 is a great amp.

I machined a couple spacer rings from PVC schedule 40 to make up for the shorter caps.These will be fastened to the main board and the caps will set atop of them.Also makes wiring the caps to the PCB much easier and will look OEM with the metal cap hold down bracket installed.

I have no doubt that when you are done with your restoration, the units are in better than brand new from the factory condition. :thmbsp:

Tidy up the chassis a bit. A little corrosion control. Chassis stripped down. Beadblasted and sprayed with rust inhibiting primer gray.New replacement SS fasteners for the rusted hardware on the PT.

Dave am i reading this rite. Did you paint the inside? What happened to Powder Coating. Are you feeling alrite?

I don't look at the inside, once its finished.Powder coat exterior cases for a durable finish.
