JBL 4311...upside down?

Wondering since the tweeters are at the bottom...do you place them upside down?

No expert here, but the way I've always figured it, if the 4311s are at or above ear level, I understand that they were meant to be placed with the tweeters and mids at the bottom, in front of the mixing board. That's how the foilcals are oriented, too.

I mounted mine at about chest level on my garage wall, with the woofers up top.

and if the speakers are SLIGHTLY lower than ear level? still keep the tweeters on the bottom?

Don't you f***in look at me! :D

I would just position them whichever way puts the mids and tweeters closer to ear level.

You'll see how I keep avoiding the term "upside down", because what's upside down with 4311s would be right side up on most speakers. :D

Blue Velvet......ah have never been able to look at an empty coke bottle without thinking of that movie.

The documentation for the JBL 4311 suggests that the control panel on each speaker is on the bottom and the center of the woofer is exactly on the same level as your ears.

Got mine sitting sideways at ear level, sounds best, and your freinds don't say, "hey, did you know that speaker's upside down?"

Yeah, the mid and tweet have a _much_ wider sweet spot when they are like that. Mine are 4412A, they finally got the labels on the right way 'round on the 44xx series. Properly mirror imaged too.
