Last week I picked up a mint condition Luxman R-404 receiver for $40. Clean and nicely detailed sound quality and it looks good. Not too bad for an Alpine model. Next purchase will be an L-210 amp.

Does a tape deck count?

You damn right they do. The K-05, K-04 and K-03 as well as the 5K50 and 5K50M are some of the best decks made. I really enjoyed my K-12 (model just below the 5K50 for half the cost of that unit) and it made some great tapes. They may have entered the game a bit after the others as far as a cassette deck but they aimed very high and hit the mark. Their early bottom unit the K-5a was very nice sounding, looked great, cost a bunch but performed very well.

So spit it out, which deck is putting you in the Luxman club?

Me, I picked up a T-110 a bit ago and just now got it plugged into the main rig. Needs dial lights (upcoming Mouser order) but it is cleaned, Howard'sed, pointer lamped, deoxited and sounding nice while looking great. Love that real rosewood on those upper units.

Is there enough room for me into this club? I just signed on to AudioKarma which seems to be THE place to find out anything I need to know about Luxman everything. My current decision for my compulsion to buy "Luxman" is to get a very good R-3045 OR an o.k. R-1050. No matter, I'll stew on this for several days, weeks, but NOT months! I'll see what you opinions are on this one....Thanks!!

Here the photo as promised. At the moment I have it set up with a pair of ADS L470/2 speakers and a Marantz CD4005. Great sounding combo!

Hi, I have a Luxman SQ700x, I Have posted pics previously on another thread.
its nice!! Picked it up for $20AUD
i need some technical help but dont know where to look on AK for it. Can anyone advise where I should look.
it has developed a problem with clicks noises coming through the speakers when certain lights are turned on and off in the house
Flouro's make a several clicks.
FYI 240vac.
I Also have a Luxman PD284 t/table
And when i use my carbon brush on LP's I can hear static discharging through the t/table - amp - speakers
Any advise would be appreciated

Just joined the Luxman club this week myself. Picked up a very nice 1120,
all I can say is wow, awesome power sound. Never paid much attention to this brand until I joined AK and read rave reviews about them.

Hope to have a lead on a FQ-990 this week.

I realize this is an old thread but curious what you thought of your 404 after owning it a while and then if you got a 210 later? I've got both an L-1 and an L-210 and have looked long and hard at a 404/5 because I see them pretty cheap when I see them. I know they are Alpine models and my tech guy told me he would have limited ability to repair because of the ICs but I'm so kind of wanting one if it makes sense. I love how these sound. The two amps I already have get a lot of use!

And Cary has not been here since June 2024 so he might not answer. You can tell by clicking on the member’s info/avatar. Maybe someone else will answer.

When it comes to Luxman, most who like it like most of what they have made with the acknowledgement that the Alpine gear might not be the best of Luxman but should have good sound quality.

Welcome to ak.

Thanks for the response. My first Lux was a PD277 turntable I traded in on a Linn LP12 back in the 80s. I've been a HT guy for decades and haven't found an AVR that does both two channel and multi channel well. So, I'm breaking out my old vintage gear after years of neglect. Got a Sansui 6060 as my main but I've got a secondary system around my Luxman integrated amps. Started with the L-1 but it's not a duo-beta design. Went with an L-210 I found at a decent price. Cracked it open for service and it's spotless inside. These are great amps.
