Kenwood kr3130 power supply replacement

Looking for some information on where to get a new power supply for my kr-3130 any help would be greatly appreciated I cant seem to find one

Hi, usually the term "power supply" means power transformer, means of rectification, and a filter network with capacitors and resistors. Is your entire power supply really bad? Is it blowing fuses? Is the power transformer itself or any parts or resistors smoking?

The transformer was smoking a bit out of the bottom I did find a leaky cap and it blowing fuses. I am new to this so please bare with me. I have a new cap coming.

Gotcha! You will have to test the transformer all by itself without any load (wires connected) to truly see if that is a problem. If it really smoked because of some other part like a shorted filter capacitor and either no fuse or an over rated fuse which would not blow if there was a short, will also need to be checked.

That one capacitor may not necessarily be leaky but personally, I would replace all of those elna junk capacitors.

What brand capacitors would you recommend. I only want to replace them once with a quality product.

Figured I would practice on this before I ventured on to a marantz 2230

Nichicon KL series for electrolytic caps in the audio signal path and Nichicon PW series for all the rest is what I recap with.
