Lets See All Them Axes

Holy Smokes. That's quite a set. Do you have a connection with the company or just a big fan?
I wish! Just a big fan. Zions are some of the best built guitars and are as good or better than most all of the other custom built guitars out there. IMHO of course! :thmbsp:

These are my 3 builds. All were built from scratch and finished with nitrocellulose lacquer.

#1 Martin style dreadnaught - Honduras Mahogany back, sides and neck, 3 piece back, ebony fretboard, koa binding on body and fretboard, ebony headstock lamination. The rosette is ebony with silver wire inlay, fretboard inlays are abalone and silver wire, headstock inlay is MOP and rosewood.

Love the inlay, and fine work all around!

Interesting approach on the Tele- what made you do the pickup routing (and the neck joint) like that?

Thanks,

je

Hi Fred. It is pretty much a standard 4-bolt neck with a routed pocket. I did make the pocket on this guitar a little longer than normal. I had initially planned to make a baritone neck for it, but it only has a standard neck for now. I mounted the pickups from the back to give it a much cleaner look on top. I didn't want to cover up all that beautiful wood with a pickguard.

My beloved guitars and basses

Here's my first guitar, originally an all black(body, neck, hardware) Schecter Strategy from a garage sale.

I tore everything down to nothing since the hardware was rusted out and junk. Took all the paint off, and stained it since I liked the ash grain so much.

It now has chrome Grover tuners, chrome fender style tremolo, SD Cool Rails on the neck and SD Hot Rails on middle and bridge.

The wiring setup I came up with is kind of crazy and has TONS of options. First each pickup has an ON/ON/ON switch for series/split/parallel wiring, next two three way switches wired to use any combination of pickups, then two tone controls for all pickups(a PIO cap and Orange Drop respectively), lastly to a single volume control.

Very cool. I'm all for the highly-personalized (and highly flexible) mutts. :thmbsp:

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Fred! Nice to see others here that like to work on guitars too. I almost like working on them more than playing them!

I wanted to have the option of being a one man band since I already had a drum set and guitar, so I bought this bass close to year back. I wanted to find a nice looking and sounding bass in the $150-200 price range and ended up picking a Rogue 5-string from Musicians Friend. I really like the look, it plays well, and has the nice growl that I was looking for.

I also have a Gibson Melody Maker project guitar that I'm setting up like a SG, will put some pics up sometime. It looks pretty nasty right now...:yuck:
