" And now for something completely different" here are some of my new exploratory guitars. Enjoy and I also have a couple Les Paul Reissues as well. Here they are/ Scottsmrnyc
My Dad recently passed away. I now have his old guitar, a 1962 Gibson Hummingbird with maples sides & back. I took it to the local guitar shop and the neck checked out fine, no warping or misalignment.
The latest patient on the operating table...a '72 Gibson SG. Fire-breathing DiMarzios are coming out, neck pickup will now be a chrome Gibson T-Top from ~'65-'75 (should be what this guitar originally came with) and lead will be a Duncan Custom with a Gibson chrome cover. The two mini-switches will be a phase switch and a series/parallel switch for the Duncan. Should be very nice when all done.
Oh, yeah, and the back of the neck had years of furniture polish & wax applied...that could be a challenge to remove. Any suggestions appreciated.
Your SG looks like my '65 SG Special, except I'm useing a P-90 in the bridge position.Unfortunately mine was broken at the neck/body area due to sellor packing.Got it squared away and its a killer axe.I hope this market improves as I want to sell a few.
LOVE the guitar...as well as the Carr Mercury! I am a big fan of Steve's amps...in addition to a Mercury, I also have a Rambler and an El Moto head (I just wish I could play out enough to use the El Moto more - it is just a beast!).
I've wheeled & dealed for a bunch more guitars since I last posted, here's a couple pics of the newcomers (some projects, not quite stage-worthy yet).
Epiphone Jr.- the one on the right is mine, the one on the left belongs to the songwriter I've been working with since the '80s. This one arrived in pieces, with the neck & body in one hand & a big Ziploc bag of parts in the other- it's already done recording sessions & gigged, in June & November:
