What gauge wire are you using? I agree on the see all that's why I have it stiing on top of the black tin.

I think it's 26 Ga... It's from an Old Spool, and it's very Thin...Almost Sewing Thread Thin...
You should be able to get All you Need from an old Burnt Out Wall Adapter...
Damn...I just figured out how All these Guys who make the Clear Plastic Pre-Amps can fix the Hum Issue...
Printed Metal Ground Traces on the Top and Bottom Clear Panels...

Now, on to the next Mod... For what ever reason, these Boards are made with a 62K Load Resistor on the Input at R16 & R17. Most Cartridges call for 47K. I just put a 200K over Each to get 47.3K. This is supposed to benefit the Bottom, but without being able to A-B it with a Switch, it's a Close Call...
Every time I read another post in this thread I want to go running to the mail box to see if mine has arrived yet. I fear I'll lose track of all the 'things to do' to improve the thing. I like that cartridge loading trick! Maybe run those two resistors to a little mini DPST switch and be able to switch the 'loading' in or out depending on cart used? An On/Off/On version might allow 2 different resistors on either side.....for a total of 3 settings....... might also be kind of cool! Guess I'll know more when mine finally gets here. Got my hand full building a 7591 based PP Stereo Power amp right now....so probably best my LB hasn't arrived. But, when it does..... I'm 'all in'!! Tom D.
I'm thinking the whole thing may end up in some kind of 'custom' enclosure eventually.

The stock cord is crappy...I need one for my power amp so picked up some new ones from Audio Advisor. Keepers.

Today I received my tubes from Russia...rolled them in and more noise reduced...also better detail. Of course this is out of the box...they should also smooth out with break in.
Not sure I need to do the copper wire thing now that the hum is lessened quite a bit. Will see...it can't hurt.

I really wonder how it stacks up against the ART and others in its somewhat price class...looks like its well made with good parts..If I wasn't set phone pre wise, I would jump on it...why ? Because I have heard the quality of a similar headphone amp (bravo II) and these things are awesome...

I have been able to do a comparison having an ART DJ on hand which this replaced. The ART is fine but has less gain, but dead quite [being SS]. This little tube stage gives nice detail and sound stage that I think the DJ lacks.
Out of the box it has too much hum for my taste. The mods I have done have made it a decent stage and has quieted it down a lot. So now it's a $200.00 stage all in [power cord, caps,tubes] but better then a stock Yaqin MS22B. Of course it is limited with no MC capability or loading adjustment but mates up nicely with my Denon 110.

I agree on the cord...I purchased an extra cord to qualify for free shipping and will use it for new components down the road. Do change out the tubes...it did quite it down some. I think the wires,pan and caps will get most where they need to be. What I do with these are in my hobby budget so it's rewarding to make something special out of one of these. Credit goes to Sled for pointing me in the right direction.
