Most fun I ever had with pot ...
Put up a greenhouse when I retired, and state police showed up about a month later wanting to take a look. Anonymous complaint and all that. I said sure ... take a wander ... but invested in a new accessory for the greenhouse after they left, finding nothing ...
Now ... if anyone asked, I had a couple real nice clay pots, and even a begonia tower that I was willing to sell ... haven't been bothered since, come to think of it ... ;-}

I quit in '91 and I still miss it. Florida is not enlightened as of yet. I was a grower; so I never had to pay. I remember the panic when the plants I put in between the staked tomatoes grew so tall that they were head high. I had a sheriff that lived two doors down, but he was not a nosy type. I always kept my homegrown in a large sized Quaker Oats container. Everybody was glad to see me and the first question was whether I had brought the Quaker Oats.
The seeds that were planted came from purchased pot with a good reputation. It was usually sativa, but as the market changed then indica showed up. God, what a pleasure to grow because they were only about three feet high. It was fun to do this.
If you are curious about the various strains, do a Google on Amsterdam seeds and you see an amazing variety and with it a lot of information about their qualities and their thc level. White Witch would be my first choice if Florida gets off its ass.

Names mean whatever the person making the seeds wants to call it.
Sativa is up and tends to be mental only, for the inexperienced this is the stuff that will make you paranoid but can enhance visual and auditory sensations. Indica can involve body sensations and tends to be more of a vegetative state.
If you're going. to try growing it, . Indicas can be harvested 40-60 days after flowering while sativas run 75 to 120 days.

Both of you two are bonkers if you think Kentucky won't be the last of the holdouts. I live in this beautiful, but backwards land, and the erection that local law enforcement has for pistol-whipping those communist hippies is laughably bad. Good luck with your respective states, gents.
Besides, a huge percentage of local KY/TN law enforcement monies is from seized assets. I'm thinking we lead the nation in this unjust and unconstitutional bullshit.

I had a flower I grew back in 2008. She was a large girl, and even in the 2nd week of November, she was still growing. Had to let her go, as everything around her had died.

No doubt. That little kief ball made me feel nearly weightless in my Lazy Boy for a little while.
There are so many different strains. I live in D.C. and grow my own. I know exactly what goes in each grow. Been growing for 10 years. Yes, before it was legalized in D.C and it's very inexpensive to grow compared to what dispensaries charge. It's a great hobby. I enjoy it as much as listening to vinyl. It makes the music much more enjoyable.
My thumbs are brown not green. This summer I was given a baby girl. After months of care, spending $50 on 3 bottles of nutrition and transplanting outdoors into hard clay requiring 2 large bags of amended soil my girl grew pollen sacks. She was a he.
On the other hand a $50 avg 1/8th lasts me a little over a month. They gave me 6 seeds when I bought the food so I may or may not give it another go.

That's where the "community grow" thing comes in. Lots of folks with brown and withering thumbs could benefit greatly by having a local guru provide a guiding hand. Might even be some opportunities for entrepreneurs to do house calls to check on things - for a fee of course - something similar to what nurseries do for businesses with garden areas ...
I buy feminized seeds. So far I've had good results. I use GH products along with a compost tea. There are several other fine makers of nutrients, I just found something that works very well for me.

I wouldn't. It's a federal crime and there are some preventative measures in some places.

I would try a few strains first to get a handle on what you like, then looks for seeds or clones from them and make your own seeds after that.
Just got a copy of Ed Rosenthal's, 'Marijuana Grower's Handbook' and a copy of Greg Green's, 'The Cannabis Grow Bible'. At 510 pages and 690 pages they're pretty hefty. Got some seeds on their way from a seed bank in NorCal and looking forward to growing some 'medicine' down here on the Sou' Left Coast. (grin)

My how times have changes. Yesterday as I came into my town in the Northern Sierra Foothills, I was behind a pick-up truck coming back from the nursery with a few pot plants.
Ed Rosenthal put his neck on the line to make this happen. He risked serious jail time
Back in the 1980s I worked with him on his audio book publishing. He gave me a signed Handbook. What is funny, is my name is not Joe. Not sure why he put that. I did not notice it until I was showing it to the editor. We both thought it was hilarious.
Maybe we all needed an alias back then or maybe we were just high.

Grew a bit from seeds on my back porch here in So Cal this season. Blueberry auto-flower turned out very nice but the yield was small and the Jack Herer is still growing, (I got a late start). The Blueberry actually smells like blueberries, weird eh? (grin)
Next season I've got some White Widow beans to try. Still looking for some red Columbian or Santa Marta gold beans.

Yes sir.
Getting back into growing as of late I have come up with a better method for some of my seedy plants. I have an empty beer flat that I've run shipping tape all around the inside edges and corners, gently shake and angle to one corner and viola, all seeds migrate there. I have enough seeds to last me the rest of my growing life.
Well before legal weed came to my state and town I was considering growing my own. I have neighbors who have have been doing that for several years, but I don't have the room in the house and also didn't want the smell in the house either. I have a separate shop area where I could potentially grow a couple of plants at a time but would have to get the equipment, lights, timer, heater and probably a host of other things.
But now, with a store that stocks a rotation of 10 to 15 different strains at a time I'm finding several more favorites (and some I wouldn't buy again) to have on hand to enjoy depending on the time of day, mood etc. This aspect is new, the variety and the amazing differences between all of them! Before legalization, you got what you got, got high, and maybe raided the fridge, or slept on the couch or whatever particular characteristic the strain tendency produced. Now it's so fine tuned, and the potency is listed on it (which changes from batch to batch) from a lab where the State certifies each batch.
I think if I were to grow it myself , I would need to buy seeds that I knew were from a strain that I really liked. And yeah they really are THAT different! Also I consider myself mostly a lightweight user at this stage of my life, most days with just a tok in the evening, and days when I don't even smoke any.. Average I buy about an 1/8th oz every 4 to 6 weeks so I think a couple of plants worth would be maybe more than I need
