Luxman L-100 or Luxman L-580

Luxman L-100U or Luxman L-580

Have the chance of picking up L-100U or L-580. 100% working and looks. Still working on a price but in $400 area.

What do you think?

I thought you had an L-580? In any case, I have no experience with the L-100, but I bought my L-580 new and it's the best solid-state amp I have ever owned. It has a special sound, different (and better) than my L-450 or L-480, although I like those also.

Bought the ones after the new L-580 a number of years ago when people still thought Luxman was second-rate. I kind of still wish they did, those were the days.

No..have a L-450 and L-480, R-1040, R-1050, R-1070, R-117, LV-105u and LV-109.

I know the L-580 runs Hot...Not sure on the L-100.

As an L-580 owner, get the L-100.

Oh I also have a C-1000 so that explains why I go L-100 or L-110.

The L-580 was the first step in making gear a good bit cheaper, even though the Dou-ß probably made the unit sound good. The L-100 is versatile and great looking.

Don't know the L-580 but I've worked on an L-100 and it's a super great sounding amp. Built like a tank, and it's a looker. It has that sweet Luxman sound that makes you want to turn it up louder to get more of it.

I saw the one on CL that comes with the Pioneer tuner. Is that the one?

Good choice! I've got one that I want to restore when I get a chance. It's got several of those VD1221 diodes that can go bad and some transistors that Echowars sometimes replaces (see the Pioneer SA-9100 that he sold here). Also a few tantalum capacitors here and there. Mine sounds pretty good as it is---can't wait to hear it all done up!
