Luxman VS. Luxman???

godawgs

What Bill of Rights?
I have a Luxman L-450 and have a line on a R-1050. Are they comparable, or very different? I know the R-1050 is a receiver and older. Just wondering how different, if any. Thanks.

I have owned a L480 and a 1050. I enjoyed the 1050 more. I felt it had a warmer and heavier sound. The 1050 came out before the 450

L-450 is next gen Luxman compared to the R-1050. They added duo-ß to the circuitry to make things better. It is a negative feedback change and there may be a sonic difference but these two would be very close as far as Luxman goes since they are so close in time. The 1050 is one of the best receivers made, sound quality, not most powerful or most buttons. I have a 1050 as a keeper receiver for me.

There was a first step at lower production costs with the L-450 and it is low on the list of units the L-480 and L-580 above it. The R-1050 had the R-1040 below it and the R-1120 above it when they came out. The R-1070 and R-1120a were later than those first three receivers.
