of your list the L100 amplifier is by far the best choice, but also the most expensive. In europe you have to pay at least 400 euro's to get a nice one.
The R1040 is a nice receiver and can be found in your price range.

But to my point of view you are missing a couple of older Luxman gear which are more affordable.

Take a look to the L309, a less expensive amplifier compared to the L100, but with very impressive specs and a beautiful wooden closure.
Or a R800 receiver, similar specs but much nicer design compared to the R1040.
And of course the L30 amplifier, very cheap and impressive.

Man, just buy every Luxman you can afford. Keep the ones you like, sell the ones you like less.

I wish someone told me that when I started this hobby. I wasted a lot of time buying other stuff.

Luxman sounds better than anything else in its price range.

I agree...I have nice old Yamaha,Adcom,NAD,Onkyo,however,as much as I love the Yamaha equipment the Luxman receivers still sound much better.

L480 for cheap and L58a or L68a for top of the line and sota design. all these amps really should have new electrolytic caps installed for reliability sake at this very old age. You really need to factor service into your purchase plan. Best regards Moray James.

If I were in the UK I would be sourcing some nice QUAD or Leak stuff or other British made units as there was some really nice gear made there. Especially if having to bring in from outside the country due to cartage and import fees that is making importing rather cost prohibitive.
