Marantz 1060

Planning to buy a 1060 from the first owner. His bid is € 275. Is the 1060 worth the money or should I look for an other vintage Marantz? I've listened to the 1060 at a friends place and it is the warm smooth sound I'm looking for.

Yes thats a good price. $250-$500 usd depending on condition would probably be what they go for now. Its a great amp and sweet sounding, not very powerful at 30 wpc so make sure it can handle your speakers.

I think it would be ok using the AUX inputs but i would be concerned about getting enough volume through the phono input if you are going to use a turntable with it. i use mine with my Tannoy Cheviots which are 93 dB and it can rock those. But yours might be a bit more demanding.

What a beauty that Model 140!
The 140 with the 1060 is a nice combo. I used to collect and restore Marantz gear. I tried a few other power amps with the 1060, but the140 was the best fit.
I used cool blue LED's for the meters. They don't glare at all in real life. It just looks like that with the camera. I have a small form 112 tuner also, but it's being used in my main system right now.

Hopefully you snapped up the 1060 as this is an old post. Were you impressed with the sound? Mine is powering my Paradigm Reference 20v3 and does quite nicely.
