Mark Levinson JC-1 phono MC preamp?

biscuithead

Me likes the eargasm retroplasm...
I am being offered a Mark Levinson JC-1 phono MC preamp and a MC cartridge.
Anyone have one? Is this a good entry level MC set up? should I worry about installing it my Denon Dp 30 TT?

Is it the Denon DP-30 with the S tone arm?

What is the mc cartridge? :scratch2:

I'm not sure about the weight...
Right on about the Cart...

About the preamp... I see on ebay, the price of some of Mark Levinson approaches a used car... I am being offer the JC-1 for the price of an entry level dishwasher...
Jump anyway?

I am not familiar with the value of the Mark Levinson JC-1 preamp.

It is certainly very capable and a well regarded brand! :thmbsp:

More knowledgeable members maybe able to help you decide. :music:

I had a JC1-AC years ago. This is a pre-preamp, or a head-amp. It does not have RIAA EQ. It is designed to act as a MC step-up device for a regular phono-preamp.

It sounded excellent, with one major caveat: It hummed, and absolutely nothing I tried could eliminate the hum. Perhaps this is not a problem with the non-AC version though. I don't know.
