A room can influence point source speakers by as much as +/- 15 db in the far field. The bigger the horn the less effect the room has on a speaker. I know what EV Big White Horns and Altec multicell and mantaray horns do in rooms. JBL and Community horns work well, too. It might be fun to see what Jubilee horns do with that 300 + HZ crossover choice. I also know what the older Klipsch horn, La Scala and Corn wall horns do. Thats why I prefer long line arrays because they control the the dispersion effectively down close to 200 HZ so you don't need equalization voicing in most instances above 300 HZ. My shorter line arrays I have to voice up to 500 HZ to get a smooth even +/- 3 db response in the room. I also add some roll off starting above 4000 hz to 18,000 Hz to keep my ears happy. That especially applies with current B&W, Mcintosh, past Infinity and JBL speakers with ring radiators. Peaky highs and I just don't mix well together. I really liked adding Altec UHF 950's and MR 902-16 HF tweeters to the big horns in the 70's 80's and 90's that started rolling off anywhere from 9 to 12 KHZ. The distortion was very low at very high output levels and the response was flat and smooth to above 18 khz. Yes I rolled them off, too, a bit.. Congratulations to the gent who rolled off or flattened the response at 16 khz. I am very lucky as I can easily hear a difference like that.
