Melos CD-1

This is a Melos CD-1 from the mid 1980s and it may be a clone(?) of a Philips CD 104. It has tubes in there supposedly. It doesn't have a remote as far as I know. Was this a special CD player in any way?

man, i wish there were affordable CD players wth tube analog section. they get pricey.

Unfortunately, Melos is no longer in business and its proprietor, George Bishoff passed away a few years ago. They were known more for their tube preamps. Based on the reputation of their preamps, I would think the cd player sounds good.
