Miata to Mustang

I'm ready for a good long winter with a nice heavy snow pack after an entire summer of drought and record breaking wildfires crossing over into October.....it's just ridiculous.

I'm fine to suffer through having the Vette 'vert in storage longer in order to soak things down good and wet in sping:

Rather have it in storage longer than it burning to the ground in a wildfire.....

Was a tough year for fires right across our country ..... new ones still wreaking havoc in Eastern Canada.
Here's hoping for a less volatile spring/summer/fall next year.

Yep. Lake George one sprung up a couple days ago and theres lots of mandatory evacs eight now.

Oddly enough, not even 24 hrs after they lifted the burn ban and it sprung up in the area of a bunch of lake cottages….:rolleyes:

Whole province is locked fldown again for burning and aome counties the woods are closed again. They just extended wildfire season (and restrictions) to 31 oct.

Its about 20-25 kms from where we are.

Let the bloody snow fly! We need it…

It's far enough away that we just keep an eye on the news once a day.

290 hectares burnt so far, but the prevailing winds are going opposite our direction.

If the unthinkable happens, we're prepped and ready to load the truck and bug out. We've been like that since the drought started earlier this summer and the Long Lake fire first went off. That one has burnt 8468 Hectares so far. That one is actually still burning, but listed as "under control". The Lake George fire is still listed as "not under control".

When we had a bad season two years ago, I went out and bought a "roof sprinkler" system. Rainbird commercial agricultural heads. Soaks the house and detached garage to a ten foot circle around them. House had an auto-switch gen so if they turn off the power, the water just keeps coming. All the roof gutters have "leaf guards" so nothing ignitable ever sits in them. I've also got a 2 foot ring of stone around the house, the nearest trees are 40 feet away and branches trimmed up to 6 feet and the woods around us I keep cleared out and 5-10 feet between trunks. Fall and spring I'm out with teh chainsaw, blowers and chipper shredders keeping it as clean and tidy as possible out to about 100-150 feet from the house.

Our property is about as ready as it can be.

If we have to evac, we'll just turn on the water and walk away.

Insurance is the fall back position should the worst happen.....if it burns, at least we can say we did everything we could to prevent it.

It's just crazy. Never have I seen the province this dry in my 60-odd years. NS is basically rock, lakes or swamp and we're still having wildfires pop up at random.

The world she is a changin'.....and not for the better.

The season isn't over until first snow prediction! Last year we took TRouble for a New year's Day drive through DC with the Capital Triumph Register,
then parked her in the Storage locker. It snowed a few days later on Jan 6th.

The prevailing attitude with car buffs in the DelMarVa region is to wait for 2 rains AFTER the final snow, to get all highway salt washed away,
and THEN its safe to bring your car out for the season! That was March 19, 2025 for us this year!

.... and although spring is not coming in hot this year things are improving ..... so we're close

Looking forward to the summer having lost 2 1/2 months last season (just after I bought it) because of the kid rear ending us
..... the GT is ready to go :cool:

To the passionate "car" community at AK ......

The season has ended ..... sooner than I expected or hoped.

My illness has won .... at least this battle.
Its progression and a few other factors made it clear enjoying the GT was untenable moving forward.
The pain just isn't worth it.

So I placed the ad late yesterday ..... and the first chap to come see it today - purchased it.
All in a 24 hour period.

He's a nice older gent .... went to a good home.

I am at peace.
