Miles per day on Road Trip

I rode my bike from Denver to Austin in one day. 900 miles. No land speed record though. Had to stop and rest for an hour in the afternoon and slow way down once in the Hill Country for fear of deer on the road. It was also the last day of a much longer week-long ride and I was totally beat. As I recall, took me about 18 hours.
Used to routinely drive back and forth from NY to Texas. Three 600 mile days in a row each way. Speed limit was 55 in those days.
Worst of those trips was in a fully loaded 21 foot-long Ryder Truck. Brutal.
I'm no speed demon, but I did once make the trip between Austin and Amarillo, 420 miles, in 5 hours. That was on a bike with no gas gauge, so gas stops were every hour.
Anymore, I can drive about 400 miles in a nice cushy car before I start looking for a motel.
Actually, I prefer to be driven by someone else.

About 4 years ago on vacation I drove from NE Ohio to Gatlinburg TN ... 514 miles .. one Hotel stop. Way down was via Kentucky. 
Long haul but aside from the long ride ... all good.
On the way back, made the mistake of crossing the West Virginia Turnpike at night
. Got a late start back ... 476 miles via this route w/ no stop overs.
I'll never do that again. ... that is one desolate place at late night. Most of the traffic at that time ... reminded me of the Spielberg 1971 movie "Duel".
Stopped off at a Burger King that was sold out of everything but french fries and this was a travel plaza.

Let's see, I've done Syracuse to Athens, Ga solo in one day, Central Connecticut to High Point, NC solo in one day, Kansas City to Athens in one day solo, Las Vegas, NM to Shreveport in one day solo. I've taken many one day trips to Fort Wayne from Athens with the wife. The longest I guess was from Athens to the center of South Dakota in one lonnnngggg day when I was in college. I was stoned as a bat the whole way. Oh, I forgot, I drove a van full of geology students from Garden City, Kansas to Martin, TN in one day, hungover at that.
Fort Walton beach to Fort Dodge Iowa 22 hour straight .
Assigned to the 33rd TFW at Eglin AFB in Fort Walton. Going home on leave to Fort Dodge for Thanksgiving. 1984 ish.

When I was a kid, we drove from near Chicago to Disney World in Orlando in 24 hours straight. Mom, dad and us four kids, sleeping on the seats and under the rear window.
My dad wanted to save the money for a motel. Of course, none of us were wearing seat belts.
We made this trip a couple of times. I remeber on one trip being woken up early in the morning because the ride was so bumpy. My dad fell asleep at the wheel and we were
driving beside the highway!!! Amazing that we weren´t all killed.
I made the 900 mile trip from Kankakee IL to Ft. Walton Beach FL several times non stop (except for gas and nature calls) on my Honda CB1100F . It´s a funny story, actually.
After crashing my Honda at almost 120 mph, (I had full coverage insurance and got her repaired
) I decided it would be better for me to sell it. I couldn´t find a buyer in FL so I drove it home to IL on Friday to sell it. My buddy followed me in his Chevy S10 and we drove back to FL on Sunday.
Well, I decided I didn´t want to sell my precious bike, so we drove back up to IL on the next weekend to pick it back up
The strange things young guys do...

Alone in the car, 600 miles max, I think. Usually less than 500, more like 450. I usually do not set an alarm, so that I am fully rested.
Once, 800 miles, sharing the driving with someone else.
Once 650 miles; 5 people in the car but I was the only driver - coming back to Chicago area from Canada, north side of Lake Superior.
Edit: I looked up my route when I moved from Grayslake, IL to Sahuarita, AZ:
Grayslake to St Robert, MO 455 mi
to Shamrock, TX 534 mi
to Roswell, NM (friend's house) 306 mi
to Sahuarita 464 mi (actually 10 miles more to a motel because my furniture wasn't there yet)
I now recall doing Chicago to Tucson in three days a couple of times when I was younger.
Once, 800 miles, sharing the driving with someone else.

I was getting onto the autobahn back in the day, with my wife on the back. I downshifted into 2nd at 100km/h (60 mph), and the rear wheel spinned and the front wheel came up
., top speed was around 250 km/h 155 mph.I just can´t imagine how fast the bikes are today with 200 HP.

My personal record is a non-stop of 1378 miles from my current home to my previous home town.
I walked in the door, sat in a chair and attempted to check some trades, and immediately fell dead asleep for 4 hours. Woke up with my fingers still on the keys I was tapping when I bonked.

I have done many straight through trips from Houston to Indianapolis. This is 1030 - 1050 miles depending on route. Last year I did the the trip three times to attend to family issues. Usually about 15 hours moving and 30 minutes for gas, pee, and more coffee. This is of course without the wife. When we travel together things are done much more civilized; only 500-600 miles max.

I certainly like making frequent stops to look at scenery or get some blood in the legs pumping again. 400 miles is comfortable for me.
About thirteen years ago I did 700 miles in a day to see my sister at USC for dinner and turned around. Lol. But it was in my very comfy Mazda RX-7 convertible top down all the way. A very memorable trip too, as it was towards sunset that the sky turned crimson red/orange and and then purple with the full moon on the right and sunset on the left. Unbelievably beautiful. I pulled over to watch that "magic moment" as photographers like to say.
Gotta say, I miss that Mazda. Speakers IN the headrest, doors, dash and knees it was audio Nirvana.
