Minimus 7 and Minimus 7W same tweets?

I'd thought I'd ask...

Are the tweeters the same in the 7 & 7W?

I'd like to replace a blown tweet on one pair of 7W's with a 7 tweeter.

There was at least two different tweeters offered in the minimus 7 line- one on a flat metal plate, one on a plastic plate with a concave, resessed area around the dome.

I betcha the 7 and 7w used the same exact tweeter at the time they were assembling them, but I dunno if the later (plastic mounted) tweeter is otherwise exactly the same, or just real similar. I'd imagine at least similar, if not exact, besides the plate.

I have one set of 7's and one set of 7w's, all tweeters are the same.

I also have one orphan 7, the tweeter has a bunch of concentric rings around the dome, the others do not.

The mounting plates that the tweeters are installed on are not interchangeable on the 7 and 7W's that I have encountered. The locations of the screw holes used to attach the assembly to the cabinet are spaced differently.

The tweeters themselves look the same, but I have seen different part numbers on the ones I have encountered.

Things were changed from time to time, without Radio Shack changing the "Minimus 7" designation, so it is hard to say if yours are identical. However, if they were made at the same time, then they are identical, and they should be a close match in any case.

Mmm, interesting info.

I guess that I can assume that my 7w and 7 were made around the same time due to them both being manufactured in Japan. I have seen Korean, Malaysian and Japanese varieties; maybe there were tweeter differences due to different tooling in different countries. Notice that I used 'difference' 3 times in one sentence! Wow!

I will inspect both tweeters and post pics - perhaps this will help.
