Hi-
Thrift store score- minimus 77, woofers with rotted foam.
I saw the thread for the minimus 7 replacement woofers; are there
better/different replacements for the -77?
Thanks
Mike

Shouldn't be hard to find foams. These were actually a bit more expensive than the 7's in comparison. Nice score, what did you get them for?

I have an old thread on refoaming the 77 with a 5" MAT foam in this forum.

The roll's not the right size, and you have to stretch the foam a little bit, but it works....

If you must know.... Seven Bucks and change!!
I've wanted a pair forever, too.
Thrift deals are a bit thinner than a few years ago, but, from time to time....

Having actually read your original post, I am sorry to report that I don't know of a better/different speaker that would be a direct replacement for the original woofer. If you find one, or correct replacement foams, let us know.

The 7 uses a 4" woofer with rubber surround, whereas (as I recall) the 77 has a 5.25" woofer with a foam surround.

You're correct, I have both. Interestingly, the M7 woofers have a bigger magnet and are heavier, even though the speaker is smaller.

These foams fit perfect on the M77's, although the foam roll goes in, not out. So if you don't mind them being a little different than original, these are cheap and just the right size.

How about an installed picture with new surrounds?

Well, it is a 12 yr old thread, so that link is long gone. Hopefully someone will chime in with recent experience on some that fit as the set I bought some months ago were not good at all.

The eBay link there is dead. Any lead on where to get these surrounds now?
A quick Google search brings up numerous results. Here's one:

Some comments about using these on the M-77's:
-The Minimus -77 has an odd sized woofer, this is indeed the correct replacement kit for it's always rotted foam surround. This glues to the top side of the angled woofer cone, making the surround replacement very easy.
-I thought my speakers were gone for good. Then saw the foam surrounds here. They were very easy to install and sound better than ever now mounted in my sail boat!
-First timer doing this. the speakers came out great and the process was easier than expected. I posted photos to the facebook page. these were minimus 77.
