Mlb 2013

That was a pretty lame call, IMO. The 3rd base umpire, John Hirschbeck is known for having a pretty short fuse and he showed it today.

I just saw a replay of that whole thing. Hirschbeck should be suspended for at least one game, if not more. What an asshole.

Ha, sounds like you guys enjoyed your game more than I did mine. ;) Toronto beat us 10-2 this time, but they kinda needed it. Since we won the series, I was kinda glad to see them battle through their slump.

He probably think more people showed up to watch him than Bryce Harper.

Exactly. Pittsburgh has a pretty nice team, but, even if the Nats were playing in the home park of a cellar dweller, Harpers presence could be counted on for thousands more fans in attendance. By the time you factor in ticket sales, parking, concessions, hats, t shirts, etc., that's big money. I'm with Michael Wilbon - the umpires in MLB that impose their inferiority complexes on the games need to be given a harsh reality check.

Cards goin' for the sweep against the Brewers...9-1 in the 8th.

Holliday with a 2 run bomb. Craig with a 3 run double, then an RBI triple.

I'm glad the Cards are doing well. I have to admit they have surprised me this year.

I am surprised also. I figured they would be competitive but I thought they would miss Chris Carpenter, but rookie Shelby Miller has been doing a great job so far in the starting role.

My BIL lives in Belleville. We are going up to stay a couple of days with them and hit a game or two.

I grew up in Fairview Heights. Lived in Illinois all my life until my wife and I moved out to Oregon 9 years ago.

BTW, my wife likes the Cubs. She grew up in Champaign/Urbana.

Rockies are going to have to mount another come back to take the series against the Rays. J. Chacin not having a good day after coming off the DL.

I didn't realize that the Rays had such good pitching...guess they have to have it the AL East. Preston

Tampa Bay has excellent pitching, and Colorado can definitely hit and they don't seem to give up. Until I started getting to know that about the Rockies, I would have quit watching the game. They definitely have work to do today, though, you're right.

p.s.: Nolan Arenado has rewarded me for continuing to watch. It's only his seventh game in the majors, and he has three home runs. Exciting player.

Knee, I will keep an eye out for that kid. What position does he play? I don't have MLB network and never get to see the Rockies unless they are playing St. Louis or on Sunday night.

He's a 6'1" tall 3rd baseman that has been quick and sure handed so far. He reminds me a bit of the young Orioles 3rd baseman Manny Machado, who is really making an impression in the big leagues.

I love seeing these young players getting their chance and excelling. I watched that kid Martinez pitch again today for his 2nd ML appearance. Reminds me of a young Pedro Martinez. Everything he throws is effortless and range from 80-99. Wainwright was sitting in the dugout just shaking his head watching Martinez pitch.

Did you watch the game spaceman?? I didn't see it because root sports doesn't broadcast pirates games due to the pens.

O's Win!
4-3 victory over KC using their standard formula of clutch hitting-outstanding bullpen and a few defensive gems........ :D

Dangit, I got distracted, & forgot to check. :stupid: I've been getting really lucky though, on finding nicer vintage bike parts, for the Bottecchia. :thmbsp: I'll check it out tomorrow for sure though, it "should" be on TV here, I'd think. If not, the radio as usual will work.

Looks like the Yanks and Rox will wash out in Denver tonight. It would be a shame if it does, because this is the only Yankee visit to Denver this year, and it's likely that the Yankees would decline to reschedule it, which is their option. The Rox are looking good to sweep them, or, at least win the series.

I got screwed up AGAIN, on the game with the Pirates. They must have started the game around noon our time. :sigh: But I see we won this time, 2-1, to split the series at least. We were getting a little momentum going right before this one, so a split doesn't really hurt us, just wasn't a huge help, either. ;)
