Mlb 2013

Rockies, 17 hits, are paying the Cubbies back tonight for what the Cubbies did to them last night. Bottom of the ninth, 9-3 Rockies.

Carlos Gonzalez, Rockies left fielder, 5 for 5, two home runs and four RIBs -what a night! Preston

It was fun watching all the offense but the quality of defense got pretty ragged in the late innings. Arenado showed some real flash in the diving catch down the line, and again showed he really has a gun. I hope the Rockies have shaken off the slump for a while.

Yes, I big Rays fan. i dont like our ownership, or upper management, but I see few other teams that play with this much heart.

Baseball much like music, is all about heart.

I wouldn't be too hard on your ownership/management -- year after year (well, since 2008 anyway) with limited resources and funding, they always seem to be able to put a competitive team on the field.

You're right about the ragged defense...I've been suspect of Eric Young Jr.'s lackadaisical style on 'easy catches'. That was one that bite him, just glad it was in this game!

You know all teams/players go through slumps...just really is bad when so many players go through it at the same time. Makes me wonder what goes on in the clubhouse and on the practice field. Preston

This Nolan Arenado is the real deal. Much like the Orioles' sensational young third baseman last year, he's being tested by veteran base runners, and he's making them look stupid. The kid looks as comfortable in Major League stadiums as he would in his own back yard. He's not Harper or Trout, but, he's one of the sharpest looking rookies in MLB. And he can hit.

Took my Dad in to DeTroit today to see the Tigers on his 81st B-Day. Had a good time but they got beat by the lowley Astros. I hope to see every team play so the Stros are one more off my last.

Take that, Yankee-Wankees! 12-2 Ms this time. Raul Ibanez had a couple, including that grand salami in the 1st. :thmbsp:

Cool, tell your Dad Happy B'day. :thmbsp:

This Nolan Arenado is the real deal.

He is and the Rockies seem to have others...Josh Rutledge at 2nd is very good. Tyler Colvin is in the Springs and waiting.

They just brought up Charlie Blackmon...for whatever reason...maybe trade bait for a pitcher, hope, hope?? They need pitching...have I mentioned they need pitching? Jeff Francis saved his bacon night before last with a good outing.

Starting tonight, four against the Giants and a very good pitching staff, Cain, Baumgarner, Lincecum and then Zito! Then the Diamondbacks...the NL West looks tough for the Rockies. Preston

Our Hector Noesi goes up against Andy Pettite tonight, and I see they have VERY close stats this year. Other than the fact that Noesi doesn't have much playing time yet. ;) We need this one, to get past the As, in the AL West, so I'm hoping he's our "secret weapon". :D EDIT: Woohoo, Ms scored first, 1 run in the 2nd. :D That gives us the psychological edge, at least. ;) EDIT: Nevermind, Wedge got ejected, so there goes our "edge". :( EDIT: It looks like Pettitte pulled a muscle or something, & he's out of the game. I'd like to point out, that the score was 2-1 Ms, BEFORE he left the game, so no excuse making. ;)

Woohoo!!! That was a good game, but we took the game 3-2, & won another series. That truly could have gone either way, they had a guy on 3rd, & Cano put up a heck of an at-bat.

I'm certain the Rockies manager knows his pitching rotation far better than I do, but, his decision to leave Chacin in the game to continue getting shelled cost them a game they once led 6-0. Arenado continues to play spectacular defense and also had a homer tonight. There were some bright spots in a disastrous game for Colorado.

So true...I was having a phone conversation, just last night as the game went to hell in a handbasket, about the Rockies and them not having a pitcher that is able to go past the fourth inning without getting into trouble, giving up walks and then hits...such a bad combination:sigh:. What happened to the '75 pitch limit'?

I do think Walt Weiss is baseball savvy and will try and do a good job. That said, I have no faith in the upper mangement and ownership wanting to spend money to get the pitching they need now. I understand building from within and the draft, but Coors Field is a unique place(they now acknowledge it) and it will take trial and error with pitchers to find which ones can be consistant here. We'll soon see Tyler Chatwood and Drew Pomeranz come up and see if their progress in the minors will hold in the 'big shoow'.

Did I ever mention that they need pitching?:D Preston

Woohoo, Ibanez just tied it up 3-3 in Cleveland. :D That dirty no good Jiminez shut us down pretty good before this (it was 3-1 for awhile), but now we're right back in it. Just kidding on Jiminez, he's pretty good. :thmbsp:

David Freese hits a Grand Slam for his first Home Run this year....hope this breaks his slump.

Hopefully this will be the boost to his confidence that will bring the Freese we have grown to love. If so, it sure will add to an already pretty good offense.:thmbsp:

I know it's legal here (thankfully), but, the SF Giants may want to lay off the good weed while in Colorado. They have committed 4 errors in less than 3 innings, and have blown a 4 run lead. It's not pretty.

Ramerez just hit his 2nd 3 run home run to bring the Brewers to within 1 run. Score 7-6. Rookie Maness enters the game to replace Jaime Garcia.
