Mlb 2013

Based on the small sample of Puig in the big leagues, hes a phenom, a rare talent of shocking proportion.

Based on the small sample of this guy Papelbon's jealous narrowmindedness, hes full of ****.

Puig was named player of the month. His performance on the field shows he deserves to make the All-Star team. I think the majority of baseball fans would like to see him make it too.

Papelbon is an idiot.

Yasiel Puig sustained an injury in the 5th inning, and has left the game. He made a leaping catch to rob Nolan Arenado of an extra base hit, and banged his hip hard against a concrete column corner (with thin padding on it) as he came down. I hope the guy is ok, he's a joy to watch play the game.

I just watched a new wrinkle in baseball that I've never seen in the near half century I've watched the game. The SF Giants are hosting the Dodgers today, and, they batted out of order. Buster Posey, who had just hit an RBI double, was called back to hit again, and the run taken down off the scoreboard. Pablo Sandoval, who was to hit before Posey on the lineup card, was scored out, having never come to the plate. Posey then flied out to Puig in right center, ending the inning. Really goofy.

I'm thoroughly confused. Maybe Tony and Mike will straighten it out for me on Monday's PTI. ;)

Meanwhile, the Nats' bats seem to have come alive. Hopefully, Atlanta will lose to the Phillies tonight (currently 3-0, Braves).

Saw (in person) the comeback game of my life last light when the Angels beat the Red Sox with a 2 run homer in the 11th after being down by 4 in the 9th. Lotta, lotta fun with my grandson and the family.

The Nationals and Phillies are teams that have floundered in mediocrity so far this season, but they both look like they are kicking it into gear in the past week or so, and in hot pursuit of Atlanta for the division lead. They play in Philadelphia tonight on ESPN. This has become a fairly contentious rivalry, and will be worth watching.

Two struggling pitchers on the mound tonight - Dan Haren vs. John Lannan. It may be a battle of the bullpens.

I would have thought that, given the importance of the game as it applies to the division race, that top shelf pitchers would be taking the mound for both, but, rotations are rotations. Both of these teams will stand or fall on who and how many step up for the grind to seasons end. I hope it's the Nationals.

I will be rooting for the Nats as well.

Did you guys see the play Machado made at 3rd yesterday? Showed his arm off a wee bit.

Yes, I saw it, as I watched that entire game. Machado is well on his way to filling the shoes of the legendary Orioles 3rd baseman, Brooks Robinson. He can, and indeed is, doing it all in spectacular fashion. Yesterday's highlight reel move shows just how well he moves to his right (as well as left), and makes me think his abilities are wasted if not put to use at shortstop. Nobody in their right mind sees this young man as a flash in the pan any longer. What a ball player.

Wait a second.. Harper made the home run derby lineup and Alvarez didn't??? Wow!! He has the third most home runs in the National league.

Haren escaped getting bombed that first inning and only gave up 2 runs. He has been someone I have a hard time figuring out. I remember his rookie year with the Cardinals and thought he had the potential to be an excellent starter. Then they traded him away. Kind of gave me the feeling he might think of himself as a Diva, hence attitude in the dugout. I may be wrong, but that is how it seemed to me. He has sure done some traveling.
