Mlb 2013

Haren escaped getting bombed that first inning and only gave up 2 runs. He has been someone I have a hard time figuring out. I remember his rookie year with the Cardinals and thought he had the potential to be an excellent starter. Then they traded him away. Kind of gave me the feeling he might think of himself as a Diva, hence attitude in the dugout. I may be wrong, but that is how it seemed to me. He has sure done some traveling.

He was a very good pitcher for a time, but the jury was out on his ability to return from nagging back injury with the Angels last year. The Nats were willing to bet ~$11M in order to replace Edwin Jackson at the bottom of their rotation. It sure hasn't payed off yet.

Wait a second.. Harper made the home run derby lineup and Alvarez didn't??? Wow!! He has the third most home runs in the National league.

I think the participants are chosen by the a player designated as Captain. He then chooses who he wants from his league. Maybe Alvarez wasn't asked? Personally I hate it when someone from my team competes in the HR Derby. Seems to screw up their swing and timing for a while with some players.

Great pitching from Locke but our offense fu*king sucks! And we need a right fielder( Stanton) like I said before.

The Nats looked punchless against what appeared to be a marginal pitcher. They almost got to that jughead Papelbon enough to tie it up, but, to little, too late. Most unimpressive.

And BOOM!! that's why Alvarez should be in the home run derby.
That was a bomb!
Looks like David price agrees with me(from twitter)

No Pedro Alvarez for #hrderby?? And he's from NY...Harper is unreal but with 12?! Really?? I love Bryce but Pedro deserves it!! #whatajoke

They need to not have players pick there buddies

My Cards play the 1st in a 4 game series at Wrigley tonight. I would like to mention Matt Carpenter and what a great ballplayer this kid is. He isnt spectacular at any one thing, but does everything well. I am glad to see he made the All-Star team. I figured he flew under the radar for most people. He deserves the recognition.:thmbsp:

I would also like to give mention that Fox Sports Midwest and the St. Louis Cardinals having the worst pre and post game show, starring the one and only Chris Duncan. I like the guy ok, but he isn't a Sports TV personality. Kind of like he wasn't a left fielder.

I will get tomorrow's Cardinals game on WGN Chicago TV in the afternoon, ought to be good. Tonight I get to wave goodbye to the Dodgers as they leave the Rockies in the dust on their way to the division lead, as they are playing each other tonight in LA. They were in the cellar a little over a week ago, and now lie in 2nd, only 1.5 games behind Arizona. They are on fire.

The Dodgers are definitely playing good baseball recently. I have to think it is at least partially due to Puig and the intensity he has displayed. Seems to be what they needed to wake up their RICH asses.

Cards can't seem to get anything going offensively tonight against the Cubs.

The Nationals really should not have traded Michael Morse. Watching Harper, Zimmerman ( man, is he dangerous ), Werth and Laroche, having Morse in there is murderers row. What a dumb move. Phillies would not have won 3 of 4 from them with that crew.

Who Are The RAYS?

I searched this thread....for the Tampa Bay Rays. :scratch2:

Lets see.......Yankees budget: $229M. Red Sox: $150M. Tigers: $148M.

Rays? Take a guess

HERE THEY COME!!!

Just giving you a heads-up so you can duck.:banana::banana:

Joe Maddon is a genius! the Rays have the best pitching in MLB. More runs than any other team.

The A's and Rays have the 27th and 28th lowest payrolls out of the 30 teams so it is nice to see that you don't have to be the NY Paychecks or Boston Bankaccounts to field a winner.

My O's have had a horrible July but should bounce back. The AL East has 4 out of 5 teams with at least 50 wins. It is going to be a dogfight the second half.
