Quality over Quantity
The Vegas line has the Dodgers favored by a slight margin to win the NLCS. Dodgers and Red Sox are even for winning the WS with the Cards the underdogs. Cards like the underdog role.
Nice to see Cabrera hit one out,it's been along time.Verlander's looking pretty good as well.

Listening to the so called experts, the Cardinals dont standa chance against the Dodgers. I have listened to several voice their opinion and they all seem to parrot the same thing. Superior starting pitchers, better offense, more speed, etc. We shall see what happens, but the Cards have a recent history of playing well in the underdog roll.
I think the Dodgers are relatively healthy while the Cards are missing a lot this year to injury. Allen Craig looks like he is done for the year after leading the team in BA and
RBI's this season and hitting close to .400 with runners in scoring position.
All baseball fans know what a big game pitcher Chris Carpenter is, although he has been plagued by injury and who knows what he has left. But the man is a beast on the
mound and gives supreme effort.
Jaime Garcia is a fine young left handed starting pitcher who had to have Tommy John after a very few starts this year. When healthy he can be nasty and has the ability to dominate.
Jason Motte who was one of the league leading closers last year also missed the year due to TJ surgery.
Rafael Furcal also missed the year, but hopefully he will return healthy next year.
The one good thing about all of these injuries, the Cards brought up 19 players this year from their farm system, and several have done really well. A lot of teams would have been decimated by so many injuries, but the Cards are in the NLCS.
I haven't heard the eggsperts mention it, but with McGuire leaving the Cards as hitting coach and going to the Dodgers, I would think the Dodgers would have a great scouting report on how to pitch to the Cardinal hitters.
I guess my point in all of this is even though the Cards don't seem to be given a chance I am really proud of my Cardinal team. Win or lose this year, our future looks bright.
Some of my earliest memories are sitting outside with my grandparents (both sets) and listening to the Cardinal games. I was probably 3 or 4 years old and with my 60th coming in a couple of days, my love of Cardinal baseball truly has been a lifelong affair.
Sorry for being so wordy, after I typed this I hesitate to hit the post button. But after a couple of minutes of thinking about it, I know those who have followed their team for a very long time will understand and smell what I'm steppin in.
Go Cards!
Sounds like a concession speech
Remember, in a game of inches it's better to be good and fortunate than good.
Game 2 matchup is interesting. Kershaw, who most feel is the best starting pitcher in MLB (either him or Scherzer), versus rookie Michael Wacha. Sounds like the makings of another great matchup. I like the Cards chances in game 2. Kershaw is 0-2 during the regular 2013 season against the Cards. Michael Wacha has thrown 1 hitters in his last 2 starts. Plus the Dodgers haven't faced Wacha. Has the making for another 13 inning game.
