Mlb 2013

My Cards dropped 2 of 3 to Arizona. Now heading to San Fran. I am glad they have a day off after last night marathon losing 10-9 in 16 innings. I haven't been able to watch a lot, since the games start late playing out west and having to get up at 4am this week.

Hey, the Royals took 2 of 3 from the White Sox.

I heard a few days ago on one of the local talk radio programs that the Dodgers were figured to win the next world series. What was funny was that opening day vs the Giants, they couldn't even fill the stadium.

Today at 1:30 is the Giants home opener, and the 6:00am news this morning showed people lining up at the stadium already. Guaranteed sellout.

Go Giants!!!

And now the Nats are the only undefeated team in MLB and have only allowed one run in 3 games. Then again, this level of performance was against the lowly Marlins. Today they travel to Cincinnati for a run at the far better Reds.

That should be a good series. I hate the Reds so here's hoping for a Nats sweep.

Right, well we were playing against you.

Here's the stats:

Dodger Stadium capacity 56,000 (has been ever since the stadium was built)
http://espn.go.com/travel/stadium/_/s/mlb/id/19/dodger-stadium
Monday_____53,138 Day game Opening Day (uh, some people do have to work though)
Tuesday____45,431 Night game
Wednesday__52,906 Night game

AVG: 50,491

AT&T Park capacity 41,503 or 41,915
http://sanfrancisco.giants.mlb.com/sf/ballpark/information/index.jsp?content=history
http://espn.go.com/travel/stadium/_/s/mlb/id/26/att-park

Friday______41,581 Day game, end of week

So the Dodgers outdrew the entire capacity of AT&T park every day we played.

Here's the attendance figures from the time AT&T park opened in 2000. This includes all the lean economy years and regular season only. Also, Dodger fans practically and symbolically boycotted many home games in protest of the McCrook family management and shenanigans stupidity, depressing attendance in 2011 and 2012 despite the sale of the team.

Year in and year out we suck! Its painful to watch.. we get kershaw tommorrow so we should score a ton of runs. NOT!!

Well, that didn't last long, huh? ;) You should have learned from me, that bragging brings bad luck. :D ;) My Ms are 3-2 now, winning the first game with the White Sox. :)

It seems the jury's out on whether Dan Haren was a good off-season pickup for the Nats. Yesterday, it sure didn't seem so, though I think the Reds could have hit off anybody the way they smacked it around. Hopefully, Detwiler will fare a bit better today.

Ms are up 1-zip so far, but I have to leave for awhile. I hope they'll be alright without me. :scratch2: :D

Yep, very true, 25 years now of frustration, especially the last 15 years with inept and stupid management. But it does go to show how LA fans will continue to support the team, through good and not so good seasons.

Interesting though how both SF and LA have very similar records overall with World Series appearances and wins/losses. Since both moving to the West Coast, the Dodgers did very well from moving to 1988, then hit the wall, SF making their first appearance in the modern era in 2002, but breaking through in 2010 and 2012. With the exception of the Yankees (boo, hiss), few teams can sustain being at the top for multi-decades.

Top 6 in overall appearances in the World Series (all eras). St. Louis has been also very good in the recent years.

Texas is a heavily retooled team. Going to be interesting to see how they fare. It isn't going too well against the Angels today.

The Nats pulled off a crazy win over the Reds in the 11th, after leading 5-1 going into the 8th and collapsing behind a couple of errors.

The Mariners won their home opener, beating the Astros 3-zip. :D I "almost" feel bad for those guys, that's 6 losses in a row for them. :sigh: ;) EDIT: BTW, this was the first game at Safeco with the fences moved in, plus we got a new scoreboard/TV deal. :)

OK, ignore my last post, I don't feel sorry for the Astros at ALL. ;) They're beatin' up on a couple of our younger pitchers tonight, & it's 10-zip Houston, in the 3rd. :D I guess it's best to get this kind of thing over with early in the season, & get it behind us, then hope these young guys grow out of it. EDIT: Yay, Mike Saunders got a base hit in the 4th, to break Bedard's bid for a perfect game. It's only 13-zip, so maybe we can still turn it around. :D ;) EDIT: If nothing else, Raul Ibanez got his first homer of the year tonight, then Mike Morse got one right after. So it's 15-5 now, not over yet. ;) EDIT: Well, we mighta worried them a little, at the end, LOL. ;) Final score was 16-9 Houston, so our 9 points "would" have been enough to beat most every other team tonight. ;)
