Went to an antique store today and one booth had some 1991 Monogram models. Boss 302 a couple of Mach 1's and this Boss 429. Booth was 20% off so 17 bucks including tax. Thinking of buying the rest of them. All but one in cellophane.

Always thought 1/24 kits were the best !

I couldn't keep from building those unless they're worth an obscene amount of money now.

Yeah you might want to check how much these are going for now. Just a quick look showed the JPS listed for a couple hundred on eBay.

i did that one. i had/have good basic skills but i could never get the wheels or grille to look right

The chrome never looks very good. If they were bare plastic I could make them look like real chrome with the Alclad II paints

With older stored model kits, is there any problem with shrinkage or degredation of the plastic...I presume styrene. Can one even BUY styrene cement now?

About the only thing I've seen is rubber tires can melt into styrene if left touching for a long time.

Since it gave me pause to think about it, I was going to search the internet to see if there was a way to remove the chrome from plastic parts without damaging them.

apparently LA's Totally Awesome in a 5 min soak de-chromes plastic.

Bleach is said to do it to but takes a day or 2. Got a sprue soaking in bleach now to test it. A rush isn't needed since I have at least a couple of weeks before starting the Boss.

LA's Totally Awesome looks like the way to go. I think the time varies between kit makers. I seen 5 minutes and 18 hours as examples. Got a bottle coming from Amazon. 64oz for 10 bucks

After 2 hours the bleach has 80-85 % of the chrome gone.
