More Data, Less Wank. A Eulogy for Zilch.

Once or twice out of the blue Zilch had PMed me, to ask how something I had posted about months before was working out for me.

I was quite surprised, honestly. That he was interested enough, nice enough, and big-hearted enough to take the time to ask this newbie, how I was progressing many months after I had forgotten the original questions.

I will miss him!

So, so sad. The guy was the real deal. I still can't get over how much he gave to all of us basically because he felt like it was the right thing to do. He was compelled to help often helpless people like me and to tell the truth. This will not be the same for me anymore as I got to the point where I just wanted to see what Zilch was doing and saying - to learn and be entertained.

thank you Zilch

Wow, this is shocking and terrible.

I never had a chance to talk to Zilch and now i feel very deprived that i never will. But even though i didn't know him personally, i knew who he was and felt compelled to read every single post in this thread so far. My deepest sympathies to any and all who knew him well, and his family. It sounds like a HUGE hole has been left in their lives. RIP Evan.

A line from a movie just came into my mind. Perhaps it is a good place to go from here.

This is truly sad. There just isn't many people like Zilch who didn't care what others
thought of what he was doing if it messed with there mojo, he did it because he felt
it was the correct thing to do and try to get to the bottom of things, always wanting
to know WHY? And there had to be a way to improve it if there were issues.....

His generosity, enthusiasm, selfless willingness to share information and help complete
strangers, not just to begin but to finish and dive right in to the very end of a project.

There were some tense moments when he first joined, I had many pm's with him about
how he may be better understood, recognized and liked that in the end certainly looks
like the Real Zilch came through and will be remembered gleefully by many.. CHEERS!

Rest in peace Speakerman Zilch.

Never met Zilch but did meat Chris, another class act, sorry for the loss of a good friend..

Shock - I'm just shocked by this news. :tears:

When I read informative posts by experienced members like Zilch, somewhere in the back of my mind I think - now there's someone I'd like to talk speakers with - some day. And now I won't have that opportunity in this lifetime . . .

God bless you, Zilch, for all that you brought to AK.

I don't know much about Zilch being a relatively new guy here, but my condolences to his friends and family. It's always terrible to lose someone to cancer and my heart goes out. From these posts, it seems the AudioKarma community has lost an amazing person and very valuable member.

This is really sad.
Zilch and I joined LHF just a few weeks apart back when and he was the one who brought me to AK as well. We had lots of fun for sure.

I remember making his first Test rig PC back about 2005. As far as I know it was running well after a hard drive crash still giving More Data and less wank.

I never met Zilch in person, but enough came through from his postings here on AK that reading the title of this thread felt like being sucker-punched in the gut. AK has lost a valuable member, and the world has lost a good person. We are all a little bit diminished by his passing, as we were all enriched by his having been here. His memory will live on through the wisdom and insights he shared, and the character he showed.

Condolences to those who knew him and were close to him.

Rest in Peace, Evan.

Zilch,

Somewhere On Broadway, make a left turn on to Green Dolphin Street. Ramble On for miles and miles, 'til you find yourself On The Street Where You Live. You'll see Little Pink Houses. In one of those houses, you'll climb a Stairway To Heaven. When you get there, we expect you to send us a Waterfall Plot. We'll wait.

RIP.

On a positive note it is great that so much of his knowledge is (hopefully forever) saved here in his posts. :thmbsp:

Wow. I just saw this. Very sad news indeed.

I never made it to the ZilchLab, my loss, but I do have a pair of ZilchLab PC boards for my e-wave crossovers. I will have to move forward with that project.

AK has lost one of its best. RIP Zilch.

I will crank up my plug-less L100's for you. Maybe both pair.

My condolences to Chris.

Rob
