I was shocked and deeply saddened to read this yesterday. :(
May the Zilchster greet the infinite data source with the pride of a well-lived life.
He represented one of the reasons that AK is such a fantastic place.
A thousand EWaveguides cry. :tears:

Very sad, what a great guy sharing his knowledge with everyone. I wish I had gotten to meet to him. He's the one who showed me here all the great JBL speakers out there, and now I listen to them every day, which is how I shall remember him.

I just looked up Zilch's last few posts, and it was so cool for him to see and recognize the fruits of his own labors. Hundreds of the E-waves have been built, and the Indignias made the Parts Express catalog. It was as if his "children had grown up", and now he was ready to go.

The last couple pieces for my OLA E-Wave project will be here Friday. I'll be waiting at the door for the UPS man. Thank you Zilch for the inspiration and help you so generously gave us. -Rich Stommel
 
Thanks for making our corner of the world better, Zilch. You made a difference. I hope they have DIY up there too... and if so, can't wait to see your next project.

wow, I"ve been on this site for a while but I only learned of zilch when I took interest in the econowave.

Always sad when someone who contributes so much passes like that.

Is there honestly any econowave upgrade speaker combo he couldn't design a crossover for?
 
This is pretty sad news and no mistake. A loss to many communities and to the hobby at large. No doubt that if any group is equipped and able to carry on his legacy, we here are, and we have him in large part to thank for it.

Yup, the man undoubtably-left his mark (which is something I think we all strive for in our lives). No regrets. If he's up there "defending his life" (like Albert Brooks in that movie of the same name), it will be a swift and speedy trial.
 
it is nice to hear that Zilch's transition was peaceful.

I always did appreciate him replying to my rookie questions in a timely and helpful manner. Wish I would have told him that.
 
Very sad news. I had but one opportunity to visit the lab and meet Zilch--I went over to drop off an Advent cabinet that I had gutted, hoping that he could use it for something. Dragged it into the lab and then was then treated to a showing of data acquisition from some E-Waves that was WAY over my head, mathematically speaking. Zilch patiently described what the charts and graphs on his computer meant in terms understandable to a grade-schooler and chuckled at my childish wonderment.

I was planning on just dropping the cab off, but was there for almost an hour getting a good education from an enthusiastic professor. I'll never forget it. Thanks, Z.
