I every single band that ever existed who hired a money grubbing manager is "over rated"
Nah

If you like to read:
IABD
So you don't wonder, He whose name shall not be spoken = Matthew Katz

I'd like to make a comment on the stones: while I do agree that most of their later material is quite lame, I do enjoy Bridges to Babylon.

my votes:

Van Morrison
Madonna
Celine Dion (ugh, don't get me started)
anything Bob Dylan has done in the last twenty years.
the Strokes
Grateful Dead
Billy Idol (anything of his that doesn't get played on the radio)
Dave Bowie
Jacob Dylan / Wallflowers

Id have to say the Doors are at the top of my overrated list, followed closely by the Greatful Dead. The only cool thing about the Doors is that Ray Manzarek later produced X.
Id have to say I liked the Strokes better the first time around when they were the Velvet Underground.
"Know how I know youre gay?Cause you like Coldplay"-from "The Forty Year Old Virgin".
Jimmy

that reminds me...
I'd like to add Coldplay to my list.

I also don't see the appeal in Santana.

Let's see how many others I can anger here :D

Come to think of it, what has Bowie done in the last 23 years? I can think of precisely two songs that haven't been grot - Blue Jean and Under The God. He needs to hang out with Eno and live in Berlin and make some interesting records.

Dude, have you heard his last two albums, Heathen and Reality? Excellent, excellent albums. Bowie worked with Tony Visconti (Space Oddity/Diamond Dogs/Young Americans/Heroes/Low/Lodger/Scary Monsters) and came up with some fantastic stuff. Download some tracks and give 'em a shot. Before 2000 I would have fully agreed with you, but in his Golden Years (no pun intended), he has found a new muse and is putting out VERY solid material.

Yes, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, & THE WORST, Grand Funk Railroad. Also got sick of Zeppelin, AC/DC, hair bands, a loooong time ago...-Sandy G.

When you talk about The Sones,The Beatles,The Doors, Santana,The Pistols The Who,Van Morrison or David Bowie,i think you guys are mostly talking about your personal dislikes than what this thread is all about.

My vote goes to Franz Ferdinand. :D

Coldplay ? Aren't they the bunch of Philistines who unleashed that miserable song "Clocks" on an undeserving world ? Their singer sounded like he was asleep & didn't particularly like being awakened on that one. Creed? Nothing worse than a twenty-something trying to sound like he is Wise & Portentitious. "Pretentious" is more like it. Come back, sonny, when you've got about 25 years more hard livin' under yer belt-maybe by then yr voice WILL be lower & you won't sound quite so damn stupid. I could go on, but I haven't quite worked up enuff vitriol & bile yet.-Sandy G.
