Music Documentaries to Watch

Tom Petty: Somwhere You Feel Free
(2021)

Watched this one last night, mainly about the making of Wildflowers.

The film's production, interviews and such are all wll done, but with one or two exceptions, I just don't like the musical material included on that album. So, there was that.

I'm a jazz guy and I found this documentary to be absolutely facinating!

The Jazz Loft According to W. Eugene Smith

I had never heard of W. Eugene Smith, but found his story to be even more interesting than the many Jazz Giants of the late 50's who hung out at The Loft.

And the segment of Monk collaborating with Hall Overton in preparation for his concert at Town Hall (an all time Jazz Classic) was just amazing.

If you love Jazz, don't miss this one!

Were you able to find a full working link/stream online ? I get audio but no picture on Plex.

I watched this over two nights (it's four-hours running time for those not in the know) and it is really quite good. Let's even say outstanding.

It's many things including outstanding. I didn't know of it, or... how did I miss this.

Not a documentary, but a BioPic -- "Love & Mercy" chronicles Brian Wilson's journey with the Beach Boys. Good movie, quite interesting story, worth a watch in my opinion. The name of the movie makes it pretty hard to know it's a picture about Brian Wilson or even about music -- just happened to see the details when browsing online.

Trailer below (saw free I think on Amazon or Netflix (or maybe Tubi)):
