Can anybody identify these Boston Acoustics speakers?

The owner said there is no model number and he originally paid $500 each - I'm going over to see them later today.

The guy just needs to take the grill off. The model number is in the top left corner.

They look similar to my T830s, but taller. Maybe T930s?

Thanks all for the info - I am going to check them out in an hour or two - any thoughts on T830, T-930 or T-1000 for sound?

IMO the T830 is a very good tower - the only things are that it's a tower (which means you probably need a sub to go along with it), and that they're a bit treble-y. You can hear the overtones in your music more than on other speakers, and they feel a bit too forward (for my taste anyway) when listening to classical music.

But ignore those things, they're a very good speaker.

It turns out they were T-1000's or was it T-1080's?

Anyway combination of three 8" woofers plus tweeter.

All 6 surrounds rotted out so I passed on them at $90 - looked like nice speakers though.

Aww, too bad. Those are really nice. But I agree that it probably wouldn't be worth it to pay double the original price to get replacement surrounds.

I might have offered $80.00 and like Sir.Byrd said $30 - $40 to buy the surrounds. Wish I lived in Southern Cal! Keep your eyes open, something else will come along. I'm a firm believer if it wasn't meant to be, it wasn't meant to be. I've tormented myself for passing up some gear, and then not long after, a better deal comes along!

That would likely be a T1000, as the T830/930 only had one LF unit per speaker. The T1000 has 2 8" LF drivers, 1 6.5" mid, and the CFT dome tweeter in each speaker.

Interesting that the 6.5" mid had rotted foam. They have some sort of treated foam surround that doesn't seem to rot as quickly as the LF drivers do.

As stated, you'd be looking at $30 for 3 pair of foam surrounds. Not a bad deal for a pair of speakers that was $1200 in 1990.

I just found--and refoamed--a pair of T1000's last week. They are replacing T830's.
