Mystery Speakers...

[bkunder71]

Listed on the local CL. He has no idea what the brand is. Does anyone recognize these brutes?

I think they're Zenith. If not, they made a very similar looking pair that came with their all in one systems.

Thanks John, the seller now recalls that they did come with an all-in-one system.

I just googled "Zenith round speakers" and got back a picture of my cat sitting in front of my the old Zenith console I use as a component stand. The internet is a small place sometimes.

This is a picture of the ones I was thinking of:

They sounded OK and interesting from a omni-directional standpoint, but certainly more interesting from a vintage kitsch stand point. I've seen them while looking for vintage-modern furniture a few times.

I thought they looked neat enough to hunt up some info. I had a pair of round speakers made by Pioneer a while back. They sounded pretty good, if my memory serves. Unfortunately, I tossed 'em out. They needed surrounds. One of those "if I knew then what I know now" kind of deals.

I'm going to pass on this pair. Thanks for your help.

I'm thinking I'm remembering panasonic, but don't remember the model name.

I've seen these sell several times on the auction site, but do not remember the details. From what I remember there very small, only about 6 inches tall. For a while I was collecting omni-speakers, and these caught my interest more than once. But I never ended up buying them.

Definately Zenith (unless somebody ripped their design off...and why?)

I think omni-directional speakers would be a great place out on the back deck, around a pool, or hot tub for easy listening during a party......never listened to a pair.....just thinking here..........:scratch2:

Bose makes something like that, for outdoor use, they might sound a little better than the zeniths. :scratch2:
