mystery tonearm!

This is on the local CL. seller doesn't know tonearm make or even the cartridge. was damaged in transport. he says: "Tone arm appears to be aluminum and has an issue with the pivot and a slight dent in it."
any ideas?

I do have 6 TTs including a denon direct drive. But if this is some awesome tone arm maybe I could put it on my 2nd AR XA.

That's a Hadcock arm. Gh-228 I think. Run indeed! Unipivot design. Absolutely fantastic arm.

the motor does run, though prob needs lube. managed to detach one of the connectors when removing the cartridge. cartridge is a mystery to me, any IDs?

thinking i could get someone to install arm on my modded AR XA (next set of pictures). assuming the arm is not too messed up. don't see any damage to the arm, but will need to look more closely.

finally, added pictures of the denon DD i already have. that one is all tuned up and works fine. i suppose i could sell it to help finance messing with this new one.

any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The cartridge looks similar to mid level Stanton- round stylus peg and should pull straight out if it is.

You were looking to put the Hadcock on the XA? Another option is to modify the AR arm and leave it where it is.

I already have another AR XA rebuilt by Marc morin (a complete wizard!) so maybe the one in my photos which is already modded gets the hadcock?

OK, first thanks for the kudos. Secondly, the mounting distance of the hadcock is 212 mm. Mounting to an XA subchassis will require modification to the top plate stud location at the tonearm end. When AR reintroduced tables with replacable arms, that stud location was moved in 1 3/4". Stud location may not need to be moved that far in with the hadcock, but it will have to be moved some or the arm mounting will be right up on the spring.

It's doable
