Looking for some ideas on tonearm replacement for my 298. I know the goto arm is Rega, but I'm looking for something Different without making any mod's. Pivot to spindle is 211.

:lurk:

Mind if I tag along? Just bought a 398 and wonder the same thing,

I used a Jelco 750D on mine. It worked great. I did have to drill a couple of extra holes though. There were no holes showing and it fit the plinth perfectly............:thmbsp:

It's just hard to not make TA mods to this table if you decide to go away from a stock arm (98 I believe). I have been in the process of modding a 208 to accept a Mayware Formula IV TA. I Personally think that the Mayware gives a great balance to the table, aesthetically speaking. For me it will be like King Kong meets Fay Wray, the giant and the delicate.

Just for fun, look at this Gentleman's mod (link below) to a 208. I love the looks and outcome of his mods to this classic.

isn't the distance 8 7/8 on the mayware?

I was thinking about using a Jelco sa-250 or sa-250st. Whats the difference between using a straight arm or curved one?
How does a Jelco SA-370H sound?

I kind of have the same thing in mind for mine.... At least the wrinkle black powder coat. I'm thinking that the black base with a Linn tonearm will be the bees knees. :thmbsp:

I have two 208s. I'm thinking of modding one to accept my Linn Basik arm, the collar of which hopefully (I've read) will work with my Clearaudio arm, too. Those arms will be used on one of the Empires, and a Sony 2251 DD.

I was thinking of a Linn also. I would like to go with classic look.
Can I use a curved tonearm?
