New music doesn't all suck, does it?

Of all the new music I've told friends they might want to check out, All Them Witches has been the one band I've recommended most. I just tell them to find a live performance and start listening. All their stuff is pretty efn good, and if you like the first song you hear, you'll almost certainly dig the rest of what they have to offer. It's decidedly dark and unapologetically heavy yet deeply melodic...no upbeat, uplifting, dance or party stuff. But thick with substance and heft, and sure to lead you on an interesting sonic journey that never gets self indulgent or pretentious, but stays interesting with plenty of twists and turns rooted in a common melodic and rhythmic theme.

Fleet Foxes, My Morning Jacket, The Killers, Tame Impala, Lord Huron, War on Drugs, Bright Eyes, Beck are just a few. Have many of all that I listed. Can't yet get into Japanese Breakfast.

War on Drugs would be the second band I'd suggest after my prior suggestion. Tame Impala is pretty damn good, too. Had a bag experience at a MMJ concert, so I could never fully appreciate them without the personal baggage getting in the way.

There is so much good new music available right now. The problem is it buried under mountains and mountains of pure dreck. Find new stuff you like can be very challenging. You find the good stuff where you can.

I've found that the KEXP channel on YT is a great place to harvest high quality new music.

A closed mind will never move forward. I am not a fan of classical at all , I closed myself off to it all my life . A couple weeks ago I was recommended a song that had good bass extension, turned out to be a classical tune and I actually found it refreshing and liked it.

Closed mind my ass. My kids started listening to rap before it was called rap. They still do and ones 40 and the others 37. I still can't stand it and I don't call it music.

I'll listen to this again and see if it changes my mind:dunno:

Well putting it the way you definitely have shut the door on it turned your back closed your mind and made it up that you can’t stand it :dunno:. To say you don’t call it music is like saying , Rock , Metal , Jazz , Blues etc etc is not music they’re all a form of musical expression and requires talent , whether screaming (metal) screaming (Jazz ) or screaming (rap) it’s all music. So maybe it’s a personal thing with you and that’s your right to have your feelings and opinions.
