Official 2015 Grammys Topic

I would of never known. The great ones I can tell after the first note or two who they are... Aretha, Ella, Lennox, , but this new crop of overproduced singers I cant hardly tell any of em apart.

Well, I'm pretty sure I could pick out Mary J. Blige blindfolded. Great voice.

Yeah, and I wonder if any pleasantries were exchanged between Sam Smith and Jeff Lynne.

I'm hopeful there were no shortages of big bear hug$ backstage. In fact Jeff & Tom will/should glady pick up the bar tab at the after-party.

Yup that whole last hour was a waste of time.

Grammys remind me of local real estate awards where developers of terrible high-rises give each other awards.

At least U2 didn't win anything.

When there are only 5 or so people with more Grammies and nominations then Beyonce and Kayne then that pretty much sums it up. Even more shocking is they are both only in there mid 30s. Considering Ella, Duke, BB King, Willie Nelson, Paul Simon, Stones etc made great music for 50years or more and have already been blown away by the nods and wins of these two makes it clear the voters are no longer music critics but record company stooges. I remember a couple of decades ago they got rid of a bunch of catagories for blues, jazz, Rock and the like and created a whole slew of new catagories for R&B and Rap.

Remember that period of time where Kanye West had to have his jaw wired shut? What a time to be alive.

So I have a really nice home theater set-up so why do I get frustrated at how bad the sound is on these productions? For petes sake, why can't they get it right. The music is supposed to be what it's all about right?

Yeah, otherwise way too many mailed in votes on these things.
Tell you what, I didn't recognize Gwen Stefani without the red lipstick and usual hair. She looked great. And yes, Annie Lennox shows up every so often and reminds us just how powerful a singer she is. I even got the impression she was holding back a little. Would love to see her do something with john Mayer, Eric Clapton etc.
for pop I really like both Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran. Their stuff sounds good too.
Started listening to the Beck album last week on Tidal. I like it bit hard to say it is rock. Good but surprising win.

Grammys are a popularity contest only.....And the most popular usually wins. I think that is why beck was shocked he won Album of the Year, everyone thought Beyoncé had it in the bag.

We are suppose to believe the Grammy committee that these are the best songs of the year? Been said over and over, the past 10+ yrs this has been a hip-hop/rap/teeny bopper award show.

In the category of Rock, only what is played on the FM wins, it does not matter what the musical content is anymore. So then the masses believe that is the "best" music around, because they have a Grammy...so sad that most people will never hear great music by so many other artists, that a Grammy committee will never acknowledge.

My vote for Rock Album of the Year

Who is your vote for?

I don't recall Beck getting ANY air play here (outside of college radio).

So my question was "Who the hell is Sam Smith?"

And after some Googling and watching some pathetic, whiny video, I'm sorry I asked....

Here we go again. Apparently Kanye West wasn't too happy about this year's Album of the Year vote.

What a tool.

He is a nut bag, a complete doushe.....Now, based on what the Grammy's have been focused on for the past 10+ yrs, I almost can't blame him. Hip-hop/rap has been the sole focus of the Grammys so he probably feels empowered.

He should be banned from attending anymore shows..
