Official 2015 Grammys Topic

He is the male version of Adele....

I dunno; I like Adele, but I had to force myself to watch 2/3's of the "Stay with Me" video before shutting it down...

Really, if that's the "Song of the Year", things are worse that I thought...

Thank God for USB drives and public radio...

Five pages, and nobody mentioned Kanye Wuss singing through an auto-tune? If it was any worse, it would have sounded like Stephen Hawking. They should make it a law, if you can't sing live, you shouldn't be able to perform. And if you have to use auto-tune, then you shouldn't even be in the building.

Madonna had the sense to let the backing singers take over when she was doing the more energetic dance moves. She still looks good for her age, although fishnets and high heels can hide a myriad of sins. Not like the girl in my avatar.

I was glad to see Jeff Lynne and ELO perform. His voice still sounds good, as does his guitar playing, and I'm glad to see him wearing shades and a beard again. Someone should give Michael McDonald that advice, at least about the beard. Did you catch where the camera was right in Paul McCartney's face as he was enjoying ELO? I mean, come on, let the guy enjoy some decent music.

Lee.

I like Adele too....The music times are very bad.

Annie Lennox proved it is all about talent more than looks. She just belted out probably the best performance of the night - she still has it!!

Yep, I just watched that video. Her presence reminded me a bit of Freddie Mercury; you KNEW she was on the stage.

No doubt about it...:thmbsp:

Take a look at the past Song Of The Year winners. There's been a lot oogly for many years.

I did not watch the Grammys and havent watched them in many years. However I was shocked to here that Beck won Album of the Year. It was a great album and Beck is so humble and low key, not the type to usually win these awards.

Beck is a tremendous talent. He plays pretty much every instrument, writes great lyrics, morphs musical styles almost constantly, still sings with a strong voice, and produces his records. Also he is a great live performer. Saw him this past summer on the Morning Phase tour and it was excellent.

Congratulations to Beck!

Kanye and all the rest of the haters can piss off...

Good for Beck. At one time he might have been eligible for the Best Alternative Album Award...

However that was won by St Vincent! and deservedly so. :)

Never watched the grammys. never will. It's all about the music industry, which is totally different than the music culture.:puke:

I thought the show was entertaining.
I watched how my kids watched the show and they knew all the details about today's stars like my wife and I did back in the day.
For me it was a great opportunity to put faces to music I know from listening to pop radio while driving the kids around.
I thought Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga were great together. She was channeling a cross between Mae West and Ursula the Sea Witch from "The Little Mermaid". But she was up to the task of singing, worked well with Tony, taking and giving back the focus appropriately, and kept it fun. Master showmanship.

I didn't see anything I didn't like, from oldsters like Dwight Yoakam, who I would not otherwise be exposed to, or Usher with Stevie Wonder.

Plus, if Sia has stage fright, why should we have to watch her panic? In case you missed it, she's been ghost writing hit songs for years. The Blade Runner-esque set was great, as was Kristin Wiig and that other girl who my kids say was on Dance Moms. You could tell who the dancer was, but considering, Wiig was excellent.

All around good show.

I hope Sam Smith fades into the sunset after his one hit. The first time I heard him I thought he sounded like a watered down and more accessible Bon Iver. Tried listening to his album a few times and that notion still stands. Not original. Just like Adele people are floored by the idea of somebody on the radio who can really sing. However real talented never left music. People just don't know how to look for it. It's a travesty and that's my only strong feeling about this year's grammys.

Read somewhere that APHEX TWIN won a Grammy this year. Awesome! I've been a massive fan of his music since first hearing it in 1991.

I don't get him either.

Pierre Robert (you should know him, being in Philly) played a song yesterday that sounded like "Stand By Me" or whatever that Sam Smith song is called, but with someone else singing it. It sounded much better IMHO.

Exactly. It's about politics. When the Beatles only get 7 grammy's, and three of them are for the crappy "Free as a Bird" from the Anthologies, (and two of THOSE are for the VIDEO!) something is wrong with the system.

For some reason , I think he looks like a young Boy George . I am surprised though they would let him win awards after being caught for plagiarism .

I was more surprised that Brian Williams had written that song originally. :D

Dear Kanye West
It is YOU who is so busy disrespecting artistry.
You disrespect your own remarkable talents and more importantly you disrespect the talent, hard work and tenacity of all artists when you go so rudely and savagely after such an accomplished and humble artist like BECK.
You make yourself look small and petty and spoilt.
In attempting to reduce the importance of one great talent over another, you make a mockery of all musicians and music from every genre, including your own.
Grow up and stop throwing your toys around.
You are making yourself look like a complete twat.
Ps.I am pretty certain Beyonce doesn't need you fighting any battles on her account. Seems like she's got everything covered perfectly well on her own.

haha, I love it!
