OHM Speakers

Ohm was/is a great American speaker company, and still around. For that alone I like them. I own Ohm Walsh 1's and Cam Pro 42s - original speaker designs, would like to have some of the bigger Walshes someday. The Cam Pros don't get a lot of play time here (interesting speaker that B&W borrowed the eggshell tweeter concept from), but my Walsh 1's do, pair 'em with a small sub and you aren't missing much.

Purchased a pair of Ohm I speakers over this past summer, love them. Currently using a Pioneer SX950 as a pre-amp, and a Phase Linear PL400 for power. Currently one of the 12 inch sub woofers is blown, I will send both 12 inch subs back to Ohm for upgrades.

Interesting enough these speakers are so good, with one Sub blown there is not much of a difference in sound, sure they do not shake the house at full tilt, but at low and medium volume one Sub is fine.

Also working on a phase linear 700B when complete I will Bi-amp the Ohm Is with the PL400 for the mids and highs and the PL700 for the lows. Going to need to buy a bucket of plaster patch for the walls when I fire the speakers up with two amps!

I have a pair of the lowly Ohm E's. Came with some other gear I purchased. They actually surprise me with their sound quality and room filling ability. Very nice job for the BOTL Ohm 2 way.

Passed on a pair of F's last month. They worked fine it seemed but I got scared off by too much unobtainium aspects and pieces. End of life cycle concerns.

I have a pair of Ohm D2s that I have had sitting for three years or more because the woofers needed refoaming. I decided before Christmas that enough was enough and had them done for me. Very nice sounding speakers. I want to compare them with my JBL L-46s and L-26s just so I know and then they will likely be moving on. Unless of course, I decide I like them better than the JBLs. At the moment, I have both the JBLs for sale and I'll keep which ever pair is left, because I just can't decide which I like better.i think the D2s might just give them a challenge.

Bottom feeding Ohm L owner. These were quite a surprise once refoamed. Very nice sound and easy to drive. They even have REAL veneer. Not quite as nice as the Dynaco A25 but if I had to choose between the Ohm and my pair of Smaller Advents, it would be a photo finish.

4s and 2s in the home theater.

Fs in the man cave. Got them for free. Kinda beat up but still cool and sound amazing. They laugh at the GFA-555 I have them connected to.

I finaly got the Subs replaced on my Ohm I speakers, the new subs sound much better than the old subs, they do have the SBA circuit. Where I notice the most is in the mid-range, the speakers with the original subs always sounded a little to harsh in the Mids, I used an EQ to take out some mid-range, with the new subs they are flat, no EQ, no tone adjustment required. Maybe the old subs were getting a little hard?

Very very happy I could get factory support for speakers that are over 30 years old! I called Ohm after the swap and made thanked them.

I've had the 2XO's and the 4's for a while and just picked up a pair of C2's a couple a weeks ago love them all. I think the 2XO's are my favorite all around speaker that i own.

I have loved the c2's for a long time but never had the money or opportunity to acquire some on the cheap. I have a set of JBL L112 currently and like them quite a bit but would trade them for a set of C2. In addition, you gotta love the support from OHM

I really do wish that Ohm would stop calling them "Walsh." It infers that they are a Lincoln Walsh design. They are anything but. The only similarity I can see is the truncated pyramidal enclosure. An inverted woofer with a tweeter hot-glued to the woofer magnet does not a Walsh make. I've owned a pair of Ohm Model F's which are probably the best speakers I've heard in my 65 years on this earth. The F is more coherent that any other speaker because of it's design. One must remember that the F is the closest to a single radiator point source that one can get. The wide, three-dimensional sound stage, the ambience, the placement of instruments and vocals simulate a live performance of uncanny realism. In order for the F's to function properly, one must have space and lots of it. They also need power - 200 watts/channel at least and an amp that can handle the impedance fluctuations. I had mine in a room which was 21 x 16 feet. It was as if I was front row center at a live performance. I've heard a pair of "Walsh" 3s and they actually sounded decent, albeit with none of the air or definition of the F's and certainly not the realistic staging. If you can afford it, I suggest you look at a pair of HHR Model F clones which are reputed to be as good as the original model and less power hungry to boot.
