OHM Speakers

Found a pair of C2's at a thrift store. On the whole they're very promising, but in dire need of having the previous "restoration" undone-- presumably performed by a well intentioned, but clueless college kid, pre-internet era.
Has anybody yet found an ideal source for replacement foams? I'm determined to retain the original inverted/concave style.

Sadly, for all their excellent support & replacement components, Ohm doesn't offer a refoam kit, preferring to sell an entire upgraded woofer assembly. Fantastic I'm sure, but too pricey for this pair of C2's.

By chance I stopped by a neighbor’s garage sale picked up a pair of Walsh Twos, $15. Never looked back. The best speakers I own.

I'm also a club member or was one. I had a set of Ohm L and to me were a great sounding bookie.I got mine re foamed and someone changed the dust cover w/o the Ohm logo. I did call Ohm and they said they do not sell just dust covers and the entire driver would need to be shipped to them. Way to much so I eventually flipped them. IMG_4403.JPG Always wanted either Ohm I or Ohm/Walsh 2xo.

Ohm C2's since '77, still pristine. Upgraded woofers to poly cones and rubber surrounds couple years back, from Ohm. Pricey, but sound very nice.

Edit:Ohm's woofer with SBA was priced in same ballpark as other brand replacements.

Question:...Poly Woofers vs the original , what do you think of the Low Freqency delivery vs the original?... My initial belief is that the original would be better all around.... but I am going off my memory off the originals when I used to listen to them

While we're at it, anybody have experience with the $40 SBA option?
From Ohm website:
The SubBass Activator is an electrical circuit which extends the deepest bass when the music calls for it, reduces the distortion for cleaner sound, increases the dynamic range for greater impact, and uses a self-resetting protection circuit to reduce the chance of damaging the speakers.
Is it just an in-line capacitor arrangement? Do others use something similar?

Cerwin Vega uses something similar back in the 80s the db10

If I had a second pair with original woofs to A-B I could maybe tell you how bass compares. The poly woofs are stiffer. Been two years. John at Ohm, I think said they should have improved transition from mid driver. And increased power handling. He told me they had learned some things about making speakers in 40 years since '77. I listen to jazz, and enjoy them.

Old Guy8, did you also change the mid-tweeter? In the pic w/ the woofer installed it looks different, without the original's embossed screen.

No, the mids and tweets are original. The ohm embossed letters are there. Just lighting of pic playing trick.

I recapped with Dayton films, also.

My C2 woofers have the SBA circuit mounted to woofer.

Happy owner of a set of OW2's. Bought them from a fellow AK'er for $80, have a bit more than that invested in them as Ohm went through the driver cans, I bought grilles for them, and I did a recap of the crossover and installed proper binding posts.

I upgraded my Ohm I subwoofers with replacements from Ohm, they included the SBA option. I can tell you the bass is tight, no complaints. Because I swapped old woofers for new including the SBA I Can't really compare just the woofers with and without SBA.

I am happy with Ohm and their support, I can understand that as long as they are supporting these ancient speakers they are hesitant to share schematics and sell individual parts. The 12 inch woofers were around $200 each (including mentioned SBA), not sure I could buy aftermarket woofers for that price that can handle 1000 watts.
