Opinions Re: Yamaha cdp

I just picked up a Yamaha cdc-665 5 disc carousel for $25 bucks. It sounds very nice. Any opinons on these? Any specs?

I have a triple-nickle and it sounds great..Got it on the bay for 99cents..(was suppose to be a broken-needing repair.. that was 3 years ago, it hasn't crapped out yet..:thmbsp:
The 665 I would assume to be a better unit.$25 don't sound like a bad price either..as long as it works .Score.:thmbsp:

I find a lot of Yamaha CD players (single disk, carousel, and cartridge multidisc players) on the swap pile (and the scrap metal pile!) at our little town dump... 100% of the non-cartridge CDPs have a balky drawer due to a stretched/worn-out srive belt. One in four or so of the Yamahas have some sort of mental problem (i.e., periodically do bizarre things). I've kept a few, given some away, and returned a couple to the dump (which, by and large, has a generous return policy!).

The better ones look nice and they all sound OK.

i have 2 and i love them both..one was skipping when i got it cleaned the lens no more skipping sound pretty good as well

I bought one new in the late 90's and always liked it. I still have it, as a matter of fact. If you want to know specifics such as S/N Ratio and Dynamic Range, I can look them up for you. I think that they're around 106 dB and 96 dB respectively, IIRC. I have used mine for hundreds of hours of playback with zero issues.

I picked up a CDC-715 recently which looks to be a little older, but slightly more sophisticated changer than the 665. It sounds really good - so good, in fact, that it will replace my Marantz CD-53 single disc player, at least for a little while.

I have the CDX-1100U and 510U. Differences are day and night. Even the weights are totally different from less than 10 lbs to about 30 lbs. It's not just metal of the case but also attributed into the size of the power supplies and other circuitry.

I have a CDC-697 that I'm rather fond of.

I have a CDC-755 in daily use, a CD-2 ditto, a CD-1 waiting restoration (looks beautiful but motor problems) a working CD-X5U spare, a CD-1 needing work spare as well. The 755 and 2 sound just fine.
