Paris Hilton Gets 45 Days in the Slammer

I have no great love for Paris, Nicole, Britney, or ANY of them twits...But I wonder if she isn't being singled out for harsher treatment just because of who she is...THAT ain't right, either, guys.

Sandy, read the newspaper link in the first post and tell me she didn't have it comming. Jail is likely the only way to get through to her.

Sandy G., thanks for having the guts to tell the truth.

Nobody likes Paris. No talent, a snob, I don't think she is attractive in any way.

BUT, no way you get 45 days in jail for driving on a suspended license. Her public reputation and celebrity were factors in the sentence, and in theory, that is not justice in America.

Although, the jail time may help her re-think her sorry life.

According to the report I read the DA said 45 days was the jail time they seek for offenders with the same offenses as PH. If so, that's American justice.

I'm done with her and this thread.

I see your point.

But- I think it was 45 days for both driving on a suspended license, then driving on a suspended licence shortly again (2 counts total, now), and then violating her terms of parole.

Here- A review-

Busted for the offense. Not her first offense, so this time put on probation. License suspended, required to attend drug/alchohol rehab program (former drug charges suspended without finding). Stopped shortly after for driving irratic, and with a suspended licence. Nothing done besides a citation issued. Fails to pay ticket. stopped a third time, still suspended licence, outstanding ticket, and missed deadline for signing up/attending drug/alchohol program. She was also late for the court date that day.

This third strike got her the 45 days. 15 days each offense.

She also had a prior DUI charge and a soon-after driving incedent.

I'm a Court TV addict. Ugh.

Anyhow, it's harsh tratment, but then maybe the system should not let as many people off with a proverbial light slap on the wrist.

The guy who paralyzed me and took my father's leg off, who has averaged a severe motor vehicle incedent at least every 9 months of his 15 years driving, got off again with a $250 fine, a year of probation, the charges continued without a finding, and a removal of any record of the accident if clean for 1 year. He's got some swift help from his lawyer brother, and I can only imagine political connections, or a lazy system on his side. His court date was rushed because there was doubt my father and I were going to live.

On the other hand, I've got a friend with licence issues, but the system has him pinned in a corner and makes it hard for him to really keep going. He's getting the short end of the stick, and I'm not saying that, because he's a friend. The system works against him, because they can squeeze him easily and for fines and money.

So yes, the system doesn't always work correctly, and maybe Miss Hilton is being served the extreme.

But if she's overtly violating parole, and purposely disobeying the laws used to protect the innocent (from drunk drivers, reckless drivers and the like), I think she deserves to do some jail time or at least an honest stretch of community service.

And for all the others that sneak through the system, all those 20 times repeat drunk drivers that finally injure or kill someone on the 21st time, all the folk who endanger others who try to tread lightly, I'd like to see the system do a more consistant job with them as well.

It does drive me a bit insane that folk like Ms. hilton and Mr. Stewart's young son are revered and swooned over for... being born into a rich/famous house.

It shouldn't get to me, but it does for some reason. I'm not jealous- though I wouldn't mind the fancy cars, food and money (to buy more HiFi gear), but more annoyed folk view these people as heroes and role models.

I was going to puke if I heard a certain family member tell me one more time how much she loved Anna nicole smith and felt bad for her, meanwhile a family member was dying of cancer, and another is dealing with the onset of dementia.

I hope my 6 year old niece doesn't become an idolizer of folk like this.

Anyone catch "The Young sons of Hollywood"? After "Growing up Gotti", I wasn't sure if reality tv could get anymore foolish, or pander to any more uber-spoiled rich kids, than that show's new "highs"- or should we say "lows"?

Then along comes "The Young sons of Hollywood", starring Aaron Spelling's son and Rod Stewart's son (who just got busted on gun charges and assault on a man and woman, according to the press).

I didn't even know Mr. Spelling or Mr. Stewart had sons.

And I really didn't care.

But it's forced down my neck constantly in the papers, as if it were news, in the supermarket's checkout lanes, and on the telly.

Ugh.

Okay, sorry for the diatribe. But I do feel better now.
we all loved anna nicole smith so did you too :D

I wonder what that multi talented,, highly sought after as an after dinner guest speaker Nicole Rithcie will do to top this

First, it's about time that one of the 'elite' people actually spent jail-time for their wrongs. Paris is paying, not only for her own stupidity, but the belief that celebrity somehow gives you a forcefield when it comes to right and wrong. It will also change her mind regarding her minders, who are equally stupid, and (to a certain extent) to blame - after all, we generally believe our tax acountant, don't we?
Second, she's actually not that stupid, but a sound business woman. She can get paid as much as a quarter of a million dollars for a couple of days 'work'! She came to Aussie to launch a new beer (Blonde I think it's called). Got paid quite a bit (no figures actually mentioned) and got free shopping (worth about $50,000 each) from 3 different stores.
Third, she isn't actually dumb. But she is definitely not the first clelbrity top start believing her own publicity.

I wanna see Madonna and Angelina J brought to book for slavery (isn't that what they call buying human beings for money - it certainly ain't adoption in the normal sense).

Did anyone see Leif Garretts' mug shot last year?

Court TV now is saying that, despite the hype, most likely she will only be required to attend jail on the weekends, and this, only if the already-crowded California Jails have room for her. If there's no room, she will be turned away, and required to come back the following weekend to check if there's "room at the inn"...

After 45 days, she needs not worry, and it's considered "time served"...

Of course, there's also appeals being filed.

And Ms Hilton's mother was mocking the judge, and laughing out loud in court. But was not found in contempt.

Just behaving in bad taste.

I heard on the news this morning that during her appearance in court, the judge was questioning her about (1.) driving on a suspended license, and (2.) failure to sign up for her rehab/community service program that was part of her previous sentence. When he asked her if she had read the terms and conditions, her reply was, "No, I have people who do that for me."

No sympathy here.
