Paris Hilton Gets 45 Days in the Slammer

I see your point.

But- I think it was 45 days for both driving on a suspended license, and violating her terms of parole.

Busted for the offense. Not her first offense, so this time put on probation. License suspended, required to attend drug/alchohol rehab program (former drug charges suspended without finding). Stopped shortly after for driving irratic, and with a suspended licence. Nothing done besides a citation issued. Fails to pay ticket. stopped a third time, still suspended licence, outstanding ticket, and missed deadline for signing up/attending drug/alchohol program. She was also late for the court date that day.

This third strike got her the 45 days. 15 days each offense.

She also had a prior DUI charge and a soon-after driving incedent.

I'm a Court TV addict. Ugh.

Anyhow, it's harsh tratment, but then maybe the system should not let as many people off with a proverbial light slap on the wrist.

The guy who paralyzed me and took my father's leg off, who has averaged a severe motor vehicle incedent at least every 9 months of his 15 years driving, got off again with a $250 fine, a year of probation, the charges continued without a finding, and a removal of any record of the accident if clean for 1 year. He's got some swift help from his lawyer brother, and I can only imagine political connections, or a lazy system on his side. His court date was rushed because there was doubt my father and I were going to live.On the other hand, I've got a friend with licence issues, but the system has him pinned in a corner and makes it hard for him to really keep going. He's getting the short end of the stick, and I'm not saying that, because he's a friend. The system works against him, because they can squeeze him easily and for fines and money.

So yes, the system doesn't always work correctly, and maybe Miss Hilton is being served the extreme.

But if she's overtly violating parole, and purposely disobeying the laws used to protect the innocent (from drunk drivers, reckless drivers and the like), I think she deserves to do some jail time or at least an honest stretch of community service.

And for all the others that sneak through the system, all those 20 times repeat drunk drivers that finally injure or kill someone on the 21st time, all the folk who endanger others who try to tread lightly, I'd like to see the system do a more consistant job with them as well.

We had somewhat the same problem with the drunk driver that killed my brother in law. She had a prior, assault, but got off with just over a year in jail because of "issues" in the case. As if that makes him any less dead. :tears:
Paris will most likely get out early for "good behavior".
As you know Deli, the system favors the accused. :thumbsdn:

Well it sounds like she got a fair punishment. I wouldn't expect anyless punishment if I was in that situtation. Some people just don't learn from their mistakes, "they have people who do for that for them" :scratch2: Glad to see the judge didn't buy that argument.

I bet she gets the sentence changed to house arrest.

Most people in the court system and throughout the general public would most likely feel sorry for her because, afterall, it's not her fault she has been pampered and thus has developed very poor judgement skills.

I think going to jail will not in any way change her. She would be completely unharmed and kept from the real prisoners. If she does go in I guess it can make some in the public think the court system is actually doing what it should do. Maybe some "new money"(nuveau riche) kids would think they might get put in too if they do something wrong. I suppose it would be good to try to get those "special kids" influenced to break a couple fewer laws.

She sure is pretty, especially when driving that blue convertable Bentley!

IMHO: "That's hot"

Justice must be served lady. Book her, Danno for dangerous driving!

Oh, Alan, knowing this bunch, I'm SURE we can run it on out there...<grin> Paris is a great big greasy trainwreck in progress...We know the inevitable outcome, we just don't know when...its a shame someone so completely irresponsible is imbued w/SO much...

Ok, I hate to extend the life of this thread but...
She (or someone) has the gall to ask Arnie for a pardon!!?!??!

I signed it, (note you can put something other than your name on the petition) :)

The comments section is pretty scathing!

I heard on the news they only had 2000 votes so far and Arnie did the right thing, so far, by turning her down.

I think it's cool to discuss her because she influences the behavior of millions of girls.

Do we not have enough trouble with the minds of girls without role models like the eternally privelaged Paris?

My opinion:

As to her sentence, given the previous record of offenses, 45 days in the clink is fair. And it won't be the end of the world - look at Martha Stewart, who survived her jail term just fine.

As to her looks: No offense to those who like her, but to me she has the face of a drag queen and the body of a crack whore. LOTS of other women out there, celebrities or not, that I would pick over Paris.
