Pet Peeves

Drivers who don't care what the speed limit is. I make a trip several times weekly on the interstate and pass a speed limit change coming and going where the limit goes from 55 to 70. On the 55 portion, I have speeders whizzing by at 65 constantly. After the change to 70, I pass those same jackasses because they are still going 65. They don't care what the speed limit is, they just like going 65. What do they do in a residential area or a school zone?

I had to revive this thread after seeing something today that has always bothered me.

Anybody who parks at the curb on a busy street and flings the driver's door open full-tilt (often times with his/her foot on the door panel) heedless of any vehicles in the driving lane.

I almost removed a door from a Nissan Maxima today when the door suddenly flew open to the hinge-stops. City streets are narrow in this part of the country, so my passenger-side mirror must have been a few scant inches from the edge of the door, after I had swerved toward the center of the road. Had I been driving a city bus, the door would have been taken off.

Bumpers on vehicles now are just for show, you really can't push anything with them!

I'm thinking you could push a soft waddler with one...

Don't you sometimes wish you had an old beater of a tank and you could just take that door OFF! :D

Seems like the latest dumbest driving technique in Phx is the "zoom around". The passing on the right at a stoplight trick. Gets them to wherever they're going one car length's worth faster.

The really advanced drivers then turn off after a minute or so of passing you.

People who complain about other peoples annoying habits in threads when most likely they have more annoying ones then the people they are sniveling about :D

Here are a few of mine involving shopping.

1.The lady at the grocery store who puts her cart directly in the middle of the aisle then looks at you like your at fault when you raise your eyebrows at her to suggest that she move her cart so you can get past and has several screaming children who are in front of her that continue to block further progress while running in a zig zag fashion ahead of you, god help you if you happen to accidentialy hit one of the lil fockers with your cart while trying to avoid smacking another one of her ill mannered offspring.

2.Waiting in line at the express stand that is staffed by a trainee who manages to screw something up while scanning the items then cant do anything without a managers overide, then the person checking out has to use 14 different coupons which of those at least 2 are outdated so then the manager has to come back and explain why they cant use them, then eventually she pulls out her checkbook and slowly fills out the check that she could have filled out completley minus the amount of course during either of the two previous 10 min waits for the manager, then after writing the check then has to balance her checkbook before slowly putting it back into her purse and leaving.

3. Customer service centers period. These are places that should be named customer dis service center because usally they take returns, sell tobbacco products, stamps, western union moneygrams, fishing/hunting licenses, rent rug shampooers, videos etc and are always staffed by a single employee and no matter how long the line is are never augmented by another, for gawds sakes all I want is a lousy pack of smokes that I cant buy anywhere else in the store but this charming Customer service center.

Waiters who try to take your plate when you still have food left, before they ask if you're finished. Or, waiters who say "Are you still working on that?" like it's a pile of waste I am 'working' to dispose of. It's not a compost pile, and I'm not working on it. I'm taking my time enjoying my food!

:D

The drive thru at a Panda Express near me hands you the food and change at the same time.
The cashier will then get impatient as you first try to put the change away before accepting the food.

Service in general seems to have taken a step backwards these days.

What a great thread!
My favorite involves the interstate when it rains. Let's all bunch up as closely as possible so that when someone twitches he can take us all out!

Marginally related- excellent examples of stupid and poorly chosen behavior can be seen on "Hardcore Pawn", which seems to have replaced "Pawn Stars." I save it on the DVR for when I need to vent frustration at stupid customers.:D

Speaking of rain on the interstate....tire designers. Originally, they were trying to improve safety, as everyone bunched up and went slow because the tires didn't wick enough water out of the way, making it slippery. Now the tires wick tons of water out of the way, causing poor to no visibility, so everyone bunches up and goes slow.

The people who think their brand new WalMart HomeCrapater system is better than my Technics, which is a complete lie.

The ones who think that they need to brag about how MUCH they spent on something, I brag about how LITTLE I spend.

When someone touches me, don't do that, it's irritating.

The loading guy at the quarry, who gives you 1.5 tons of gravel when you ask for two in the morning (and due to min. charge it would cost me the same), and in the afternoon, just doesn't stop dumping until you finally wave him off frantically, only to find you got 2.5 tons, which is more than you've ever had back there, so takes 2.5 miles to get up to speed with that little engine, and God help you all if I need to stop this juggernaut.
