Pioneer CS-88A

Hello all,

What can I replace my tweeters with in my Pioneer CS-88A speakers? I read that they all pretty much get rotted surrounds, which is what mine has. Or is it better to have the re-foamed? Any suggestions, thanks.

I recently asked the same question about a pair I acquired. I was told that you do not have to do anything to them.

I did notice on a auction site that someone will re-foam them for $15 each (IIRC)

you may also want to check Oak Tree Vintage HiFi...at one time they had surrounds for these units

Msound had them back in March. They're rear-glued, but it was an easy job,

For my CS-77As, I used these:

To be honest, even after refoaming, I didn't care for the tweeters. I also tried a pair of Goldwood GT-25 tweeters from PE. They were actually better than the refoamed Pioneers, but I finally bit the bullet and econo-waved the speakers.

I've done very successfull 'home made' refoam jobs on them using that thin stryofoam sheeting you often see as packing material.

I've got a bunch of stuff like that in white rings .................. I wondered if it might work for that. I'll have to try it on pair mid-grade 8" woofs I have. The stuff I have isn't really styrofoam and seems to be the same consistency as the regular refoam rings.
