Pioneer PL-550 vs Denon DP-1200

I love the look of the Denon DP-1200 but it's a fully automatic table, would anyone consider one of these TT to be superior over the other?

Had a 550 and loved it, no experience with the Denon, but it is an awesome looking table.

It is a great looking table, I also love the 550 looks. I have the 550 and plan a plinth rebuild on it, but I have always liked the Denon's and wanted to know if one was better than the other. I am also not a big fan of fully automatic tables so the Pioneer might edge out the Denon for me.

The Denon DP-1200 is not a fully automatic turntable.

It has an "electronic sensor type" auto lift tone arm feature. :thmbsp:

I had a DP-1200. Some times the arm lifted before the song ended so it was annoying on lp's with grooves close to the label. The speed was never 100% stable. Sure was a good looking table tho.

Yours must have been out of adjustment. Mine lifts fine and it's adjustable. The speed is steady after cleaning the controls. A very nice table. It is simply an auto-lift at the end of the record the way I prefer my TT's. I have been using mine for a year now without any further adjustment.
