I could really use some help! I have a pair of QLS 1's and I blew 3 mid domes. Does anyone have any leads?

Ebay is one source and they can be pretty pricey and I've also heard that someone still rebuilds them but I am not for certain on that.

I'm scheduled to pick these up on 3.26.09. I'll have to see what condition they're in. I've been reading plenty from the expertise here regarding, Watkins woofers (refoaming), EMIT and Mid range renovation projects from QLS1's to QLS 2's. I believe the QLS 3's have similar guts inside. If the Q3's need rebuilding, then I'll have to pester some of you for your much valued experience.
I'm also in need of more power. My Sony STR-V55 (thrift store find that got me into this vintage audio affliction) produces a mere 55 wpc and it appears 150 - 200 wpc is more like it. Ahh more money being diverted into this new quest.
My Father had Monitor II's in the mid 70's when I was a teenager. He was an audiophile and I was exposed to superior audio at a young age. I haven't pursued this level of audio yet, but the acquisition of the Q 3's are sending me in that direction.

You are correct, you will need more power. Toward the upper end on the power ranking as the Quantum series are rather greedy in that respect. Just as important if not more is that you will need a high current amp as the Q's Watkins woofer will dip to 2 ohm's. They will fry an "average" amp in a hurry.
I have a pair of Q3's and a pair of Infinitesimal 0.1's, both have Watkins woofers in them, as well as 7 Kappas and the original Modulus speakers. I love their sound. I am sure you will enjoy yours as well. You will find all kinds of info here as well as knowledgeable, friendly folks to help. :thmbsp:

That has to be one of the coolest surround sound systems I've seen. How does it sound with a phantom center?

Thanks everyone, appreciate the comments. The amps, which I am using vertically, are Parasound 3500's. Monsters and I love'em for those 4.5's.
Vertically bi-amping cut down on the heat from the bass amp in a horizontal configuration. No difference in sound, in my system and with my ears. On the 2.5's I am using the Parasound 2205AT which puts out over 300 high current watts per channel, at 4 ohms, 5 channels driven.
This amplifier/speaker setup has me actually thinking of getting rid of my SVS sub! Although I still occassionally like to scare the crap out of some of the kids!
Ted - you are right - when I tried the tubes on top (great smooth sound) I still felt something was missing. Using these high current amps now though I feel I have the dynamics and the appropriate midrange sound. It was a quite a journey on finding the right amps.
Same thing with the Paradigm center channel speaker (470, if I remember correctly) - took awhile to find one that performed it's job and sounded good with those Infinitys.

The picture is a little old. Looks like there is a Carver in the rack. At that time I was using the Carver M1.0t to drive the woofers single ended RCA and one Adcom GFA-5802 for the highs using the balanced connection out of the Parasound P3 preamp. I was attempting to match the gain differences by adjusting the output of the servo controller, but I never could get it quite right. The MOSFET output of the Adcom seems to work well, so I bought a second GFA-5802 and have them both connected single ended. I am currently driving some remote speakers with the Carver amp. The GFA-5802 is Adcoms top of the line two channel amplifier. They are not too expensive on the used market, I paid $800 for the last one and I think less for the first one.
