Quantum 2
First time on and I think I'll start with a question. I was graciously given a pair of Quantum 2's recently and have found them to be amazing speakers. I found one issue though in that I have one mid range that is broken and I cant seem to find a replacement. I was wondering if anyone has a link to a place where I can purchase one.

there is a guy on the bay parting out some Quantum 3's which I believe use the same mid driver. If you search for Emits you'll find his listing and then you can contact him. It's worth a try. The driver is no longer available from infinity.
wow. tell me all you can about them. what car r they out of? what ohm? 4? how do they sound? thanks john. big old rsI rock
I've got to admit, some of the stuff so many of you have leaves me drooling. :tears: 
I've been lurking around here for quite some time, but this is my first post here, so I figured I'd start off with a picture of my very modest setup (with my apologies for the picture quality, my cell phone camera is as good as it gets for me):
It seems HT receivers generally aren't thought of highly here, but my Yamaha RX-V659 does a nice job of sending reasonably clean power to my Primus 360 towers. I've gone slightly vintage with a Realistic Minimus 77 for a center channel, and Yamaha NS-A635A speakers for surrounds. The Yamahas were a Christmas gift from my parents over 15 years ago to help me "step-up" from a nice Panasonic all-in-one system (one of their nicer bi-amped ones). Well, it was a step-up in my 8-year-old mind, anyway (I've been sort of into cheap stereo stuff for a long time).
Interestingly enough, this past weekend I did a comparison of speakers with my dad (the one who got me into all this stuff in the first place). On his setup (Sunfire surround preamp, Carver C-500 amp, Sony turntable, "Wish You Were Here"), we compared my Infinities to his Klipsch Chorus speakers. Both of us agreed (and were surprised) to find we liked the Infinities better, looks aside. If only the JBL Jubals he had (and I was using, prior to transporting my Infinities home from college) hadn't had their foam surrounds rot away for the second time...

Not long ago I found a pair of Infinity RS 6's at a local thrift store. I wasn't expecting much as I had (without ever hearing any) lumped Infinity together with a lot of other "mid-fi" crap. I brought them home and refoamed the woofers and was quite surprised with how much I liked the sound. Unfortunately I had the hooked up to a thrift store receiver, which died in one channel and took a woofer out with it.
About 3 months later (2 weeks ago) I found a pair of Kappa 6's (with 10" woofers) that needed refoaming. I repaired the woofers and am waiting on fresh capacitors for the crossover. Again I am surprised at how good these sound. I am comparing them to the Usher 2 ways I recently completed and the difference is really minimal, with the ultra high treble awards going to the Infinity's and the deep bass going to the Usher's. Considering the Infinity's set me back $35 so far(including surrounds) and the Usher's about $450 you can guess which one the bargain award goes to!

New here so I have to get some pics and learn how to set up my image better. But just within the last week purchased a pair of very clean QLS-2 just like Kens. No rear firing EMIT but it does have the mid base rear firing port covered by black cloth. The foam was rotted on the bass drivers but I have a pair of spare watkins drivers that I just purchased off of ebay BIN auction for 70 bucks. They will go in while I have mine refoamed by Waktins. I pulled out my Yamaha NS speakers to run these for a while they sound good not near as efficent as the yamahas, overall the sound over the yamahas is, whats the word for it, reserved? But when I really want to listen to some good speakers I fire up the RS-1b's that I bought off of craigslist, I love them!!! Over all I like both of them I am working on getting a pair of the QLS, and some good Mcintosh amps. I got some SAE amps and have many Crown amps but I think I am going to just buy a few good high power Mcintosh amps vintage (can't afford new ones).

Way to not hesitate on picking up those Q2's and jumping on the Watkins woofers( you beat me to the punch as I was going to try transforming my Quantum Jr's into Q5's:sigh. Carpe Diem!......and Welcome to AK.
Sweet RS1B's!
Just picked up a pair of Kappa 8's off of craigslist for 50 dollars. They need a pair of polydome's and missing one grill. They cleaned up pretty nice. I have to thank someone who posted a link to a pair of RS-1's listed on Craigslist and have arranged to pick them up for a very fair price along with two crossovers. I needed a crossover for my other pair of RS-1b's as it is not working. I was wondering what is so great about the infinity crossover?
Currently running my pair off of a commerical Rane electronic crossover and they sound very good to me.
Does anyone here use crown amps for their system and have any comments as to their dislike of like for them? They sound pretty good to me, and I know many proffesional artist use them for their equipment in concerts. One thing I know is they are very durable and very stable at low impedances, which are very suitable for the larger Infinity's.

CS-3009's :thmbsp: really nice I will be adding the final piece to my home theater system. I currently have CS-3008's front and CS-3006's as rears with a Paradigm CC-350 center (i went from an all Paradigm system and the center was the remaining piece) I always thought the Paradigm was a little dull compared to the Crescendo's so yesterday the time and money was right
picked this up on eBay yesterday with a best offer of $155 not a screaming deal but right in line with market value i'm looking forward to it arriving safe and sound. I should be able to sell the Paradigm for the same ballpark so pretty much it will all be a wash
