I'm sure many won't like the fact, that I painted my RSII'S black, but I like them in black. Being powered by a heathkit aa1800 amp, and ap1800 preamp. Also have the aj1600 tuner, all in the original rack. Have 2 300 disc cd jukeboxes daisy chained.

I have a pair of Infinity monitor 1As and I am looking for help on getting the tweeters rebuilt or finding a 1A Tweeter because one of the speakers has a 2a tweeter in it. I believe the shorter silver tweeter is the correct for the 1A and the gold taller tweeter is the correct for the 2A if anyone knows where I can get these rebuilt or find one please reach out. Yes I know the woofers have been redone they sound amazing they have doping around the inner parts but it looks like somebody used to cone that had ribs on it. Will pull to find out if the basket is correct.

Just picked these up locally. I‘ve had the RSIIAs, Quantum 3s, and the RSIIIAs previously. But these seem to be my favorites. I need to clean up the cabinets and replace the one phase plug woofer (to soothe my audiophile OCD ). At some point, I’ll want to update the crossover. But just enjoying the sound for now.

• Rebuilt midrange domes (tinsel wires were broken!)
• Replaced mid-bass couplers with working ones

I just scored a free pair of RS-625s, and just did my first refoam on the woofers. I am enjoying these very much.

I also have a pair of Alpha 20 bookshelf speakers that have a bit of a metallic fizz to the high frequencies, but are still a nice sounding little speaker.

I’m still keeping small Infinities even I have IRS Delta/Gamma because they looks beautiful, sound can be unexpected good when applied equalizer / tone control.

RS-1000 & RS-2000 are 40 years old now.

Infinitessimal RS 0.2, may be 50 years old ( not sure)

I try (my new amp) Aiyima t9 pro class d amplifier with built-in bass / treble control, after adjusted, sound is full, sweet & balanced.

I got these Infinity WTLC almost a year ago. They were my second pair of vintage speakers, and miles better than my first; Bose 901s. I have recently found a replacement but am still very fond of them and plan to keep them forever.

You can make them sound even better by replacing a couple of the electrolytic capacitors in the crossovers (I also put in new potentiometers for the tweeters- mid range ones just need some dielectric grease). The crossover diagrams on the internet are all wrong and from what i have seen in person the crossovers for the RSIIIb and RS4b are identical electrically.

What amp are you using? They like a beastly amp that can handle a 1.5 ohm load (my RS4b drop down to 1.6 ohms at 35 Hz and 1.7 ohms at 2.2 Khz)

Last fall a friend was cleaning out his deceased brother's estate about 1000 miles from where I (and he) live. His brother was well off and had a lot of audio, so my friend was constantly messaging me to ask my opinion about values, what was worth keeping, what should be trashed, etc. One of the photos he sent me was of a pair of 9 Kappas. Woofer surrounds were gone, and the Polydomes were completely dried out. He had found them in the original boxes, which had at some point been in about 2" of standing water. At the time I was not familiar with them, so I did a little research. I told him they were worth saving if they weren't too far gone. He contacted the audio dealer where his brother got most of his equipment, and they wanted nothing to do with them. The only way they would even commit to selling them on consignment was if he paid them up front to repair them. He was about to trash them when I said I'd like to see them saved, and I might be interested in taking them on as a project. Not knowing what else might be wrong with them other than the obvious driver issues listed above, I made him a (fairly low) offer if he would load them into his pickup and bring them to me. He said that would be fine. He wrapped them well in some tarps so they stayed dry and brought them home.

Long story short, the water damage was minimal - almost non-existent. The styrofoam in the boxes kept the speakers protected from the standing water except for a spot about 2 inches square, which you'd have to look hard to see. After refoaming (my first time doing this) and dropping in some Polydome replacements (as expected, the originals had completely disintegrated on the road), I crossed my fingers and fired them up, powered by my Sunfire Load-Invariant Power Amp, which can handle the low impedance demands without breaking a sweat.

I've been in audio nirvana for the last 6 months. The first thing that hits you is the BASS. But there's so much more to these beauties. The detail and lack of smear is better than any speaker I've ever had. I'm hearing new things in recordings I've listened carefully to thousands of times over the last 40 years. In fact, I've brought friends over and asked them to bring some of their favorite recordings, and they almost always say the same thing - "I've never heard that before". And although my wife isn't a fan of their size, she keeps commenting on how I don't play them very loud, when in fact I'm often playing them louder than I used to listen to my other speakers, but they just don't distort, so they don't "sound" loud.
