Got any pics? A Google search for prosonic brought a bunch of medical devices and a TV made by a Taiwanese company that appears no longer in business.

And now that you mention it, I do remember Prosonic boomboxes. The logo appears different, so it may not be the same company.

You're not the first person to have this question. No conclusive answer, but I suspect they're a standalone company. As noted in that thread, this does appear to be a copy of a Pioneer amp, at least styling-wise.

Prosonic seems to be either a small electronics manufacturer or rebrander. Most of their equipment seems to be a little better than entry-level and it seems like they sold a wide variety of audio and visual equipment. Whenever I see Korean Made Units from the 70's and 80's, I usually think it's contract made, along with Hong Kong and Taiwan. Basically you could order a pallet load of stuff and have your business name put on it. Some of the boomboxes have been identified as having multiple AKA (also known as), meaning they had multiple different branding. Prosonic is a cool enough name if you didn't want to rebrand it and just throw it on a display shelf you could. There was also a similar company called Proton that sold nearly identical products.

Interesting, and raises the question: Did Prosonic build it for Samsung, or vice versa?
