Replacing woofers

Need to replace woofers in pioneer cs-88a speakers which are 80w. I found some 120w from a dif pioneer model.will they work or do i have to rework crossovers?

What matters more is are the replacement woofers FB ?, from sealed cabinets, and the same impedance . If yes, then they should work fine.

keep in mind that when they design speakers they take into consideration the physical and electrical properties of the driver and design the enclosure and ports, if any, according to them. IOW, simply putting in a speaker that fits might not have the results you expect.

The power handling is the least important spec there is; in fact, there are very few, if any scenarios in which it is relevant (and that includes selecting an amplifier to pair with them). What speaker did the potential replacement woofer come from?

They came from a pioneer cs-811a I believe.possibly a cs-811 but its the fb color which is why I think its from a cs-811a

Looking at the cs811a those Ported cabinets and woofers are different than the Fb ones in the Sealed Cs88a’s. And will not be the same.
And they will not work correctly in your cabinets
I had the cs77a’ as my first pair of decent speakers. They look like the same woofers, as the ones in the cs88’a’s
All of the pioneer drivers have a model # written on them. They need to match .

I know it has alot to do with the qts of the driver and these may be high enough,I’ll let you know how they work ,cs-77a are only 65 watt speakers

installed those woofers from cs-811 and they sound better than original,now they actually have some bass .I’m thinking of trying to stuff them with some insulation and see what that does

Filled them with fiberglass insulation and they actually sound pretty good.to bad i have some ads l1290 beside them to make them sound like junk compared to ads
